Really good Greek food that is fast and friendly. They have great takeaway options or if you want to sit in and get some food it is also solid as. There is lots of great cheese on option. Feta, Saganaki and haloumi. All great. A very solid late night option or lunch during the week.

If you are looking for an authentic Greek street food with friendly staff and good prices then look no further. You should visit Plateia if you’re in the area, come with family and friends, will be a great dining experience. I can’t wait to go back and eat again!

The place is close to the Kings Cross station and has outdoor seating, although limited. We ordered the Plateia Mixed Grill for 2 and weren’t disappointed. The befteki were soft and delicious & the portions were sufficient for two people. You cannot go wrong with the other stuff – gyros, chips, the sauce, greek salad & haloumi.Of the 3 skewers, the lamb was a bit undercooked though. And at $49, it should have included some drink. 4 stars just for the food.

First, I’ll have to let you know this before proceeding on writing my review – I’ve only tried their non-meat option, so I can not judge this place by their souvlakis or other grilled meats.Moving on, we stopped at this place before heading to the bar. It was pretty crowded at dinner time, but people comes and goes, so there were seats.I’ve got the Vegetarian pita, which is basically salads and Haloumi (my favourite cheese!), and Greeks really know how to fry proper haloumi. They were very generous with everything, yet the wrap was very intact. The haloumi was not squeaky nor dry! It was very delicious and the serving was big! Food was very cheap and came very quickly.

I like that you can get a square meal of meat, bread, chips and salad. None of it stands out though. The souvlaki meat wasn’t great quality but was ok, but very bland and the small amount of good tzatziki ran out very quickly. Most of the chips were soggy and the bread may have been stale. It adds a fast food option to the area but just seems disappointing. Nice place and friendly service though and a number of people were just stopping in for a coffee, so maybe that’s good.

Have been coming here for the chicken yiros since they opened. Yiros is very simple, but it’s hard to find a good one. This is the best I’ve tried outside of Greece. And I’ve had a few in my lifetime, being half Greek myself. Everything is perfect from the flavoursome chicken to the fluffy bread. Even the authentic few chips inside. With just the right amount of tzatziki. Perfection. The only reason I have not rated 5 stars here is that on visiting recently, they had decided to slightly alter the recipe. Big mistake! Why fix something that ain’t broke?! The tzatziki has been substituted for a yellow-ish, sweet sauce. Like a type of sweet mayonnaise. Terrible. I cannot understand the reasoning behind this other than maybe this appeals to the masses. However, all was redeemed when the manager/owner offered to make me a new one in the original style! This is a must try on everyone’s foodie list but ask for the tazatziki and not the ‘aioli’.

Greek style souvlaki joints are possibly the third in line of new Sydney foodie trend over the past 12-18 months behind burgers and, more recently, fried chicken.Plateia offers inner Sydneysiders a taste of Greek street food, in Kings Cross. My fave gyros is the slow cooked lamb, however I’ve also had the chicken and rate it also. For the lazier foodies, Plateia also recently started delivering via Suppertime and Deliveroo so you don’t even have to leave your couch (apart from opening the door ) to get your own taste of Greece!
