We waited ages before our dishes were ready. The waitress looked like he didnt know English well, so it was a bit awkward ordering. The taste of the dishes was ok.Nice atmosphere.
Visited top Ryde Shopping centre with the intention of a little shopping and lunch. Felt like Asian so ventured upstairs to Lan Yuan. The way the restaurant is set up is pretty beautiful. Lots of artificial bamboo and wood. The ambience here was good. Service was attentive, our order was taken promptly. We were going to eat dumplings but then noticed the banquet menu so went with that. $25 per head got us fried rice, a spring roll, veggies, duck and pork plate and mixed dumplings. Definitely not a lot of food for the price but enough to be satisfied. The stand out was the fried rice which had the addition of scallops and two larger prawns. Was very tasty. Let down about the veggies. Choice between snake beans and mixed veggies was tough. When the veggies came out it was just Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce. Had we have known this we would have the snake beans for something different. Anyway overall pretty average, not great value for money but decent enough food.
Came here 2 times using the groupon voucher for dinner. It was very good, a lot of variety, and the San Tong chicken is very flavoured. Also I love the fried rice and it is situated perfectly in the shopping centre. Nice atmosphere and design of the interior of the restaurant. I love the plate designs too. Sometimes the service can be off a bit but overall it is a great place to relax and eat food while talking to friends or family.
really bad service from the male manager, rude and arrogant, doesn’t bother to talk to you or make a smiling face even though you are the only customer at the time, will not go back because of himfood is average for the price
Hubby had a bad impression of Lan Yuan for some reason and refused to go there for awhile now. As we were running out of new options for lunch at Top Ryde we headed there one afternoon and was very surprised! We ordered from the lunch specials and the food were great! We even went back a few weeks by hubby’s suggestion! Recommendation would be the duck noodles and sweet and sour pork. It converted him! theengineereats.com
We have been here 3 times. Each time has not been very good. After the first time paying full price we said never again. Then it came on dimmi half price dining and we said why not. Why not? Cz it’s not good food for the price. Not even at half price! And then we go again and we say the same thing. Three times a fool!So the first time we went was for yum Cha. It’s not your typical yum Cha with the trolley carts. It’s a very limited selection of everyone favs from yum Cha on a menu. The food is so so. It lacks in flavour. The best from the yum Cha menu I would say is their congee which was great. Everything else .. well there are better places for yum Cha with a bigger menu and lower prices and real steamed dumplings. Dinner we have dined with Dimmi’s half price dining. Thank god for that as the food does not match the price. Highly priced for not so good food. It’s not even worth it for half price. The dishes lacked in flavour or were very overpowering. The flavours were not very well balanced. Not returning here again, not even dimmi can trick me into that again. fe3eats.wordpress.com
Re-reviewed July 2017This was a complete steal with the 50% off offer from Dimmi. There were no strings attached! This made main dishes $10-20, I thought they were good value even at full price! We had similar dishes this time to before, all were consistent.Live mud crab was excellent! Will return.Reviewed May 2017 This was a very pleasant surprise. We had no expectations for this restaurant. The style is traditional Cantonese, but the ambience is modern, clean and refined. All the dishes sampled were well above average – stir fried vegetable with scallop, sweet and sour duck, sauteed beef fillet. The only average dish that night was the Peking Duck two course. Good serving size, less than one main dish required per guest.I am very keen to try again to see if they are consistent.
