We had Lunch with my colleagues at Shahrood today. Very nice food, friendly staff and great atmosphere! hot fresh flat bread, soup before the meal and Charcoal samovar tea after lunch was perfect. I will definitely go there very soon again and highly recommend it.
Probably the most Iranian restaurant I’ve been to in Sydney. Everything from the soup to the bread to the main dishes. The staff were nice and friendly and the sitting environment in the backyard looked nice and felt comfy.
The decor inside (and outside) is pretty horrible, and had me worried about my decision to come here. However the food was quite good (especially the bread, which seemed freshly baked, and was surprisingly good). The service was a bit amateurish, but friendly. There is also an outdoor seating area (around the side and out the back), which looks quite nice
We don’t often see a venue polarise diners like Shahrood which must make it awfully difficult for people to get a fair insight on what to expect. Dining reviews are subjective because we all measure our dining experiences differently, so comments should be replaced with set categories. We walked in just before 9pm on a Friday night, the posted hours is for a 10pm close. First thing I asked was, are we too late? I was assured we weren’t. The ambience was awful with the aircon turned to freezing and the mournful wailing singing from the CD sounding more like some being tortured in Abu Ghraib. Then the young waitress (girl) kept wanting to talk to the two older men which meant it took obvious gesturing on our part to attract her attention. She couldn’t explain many of the dishes and the ones she could were unavailable because we came too late? So in the absence of a barg we had 2 shshlik, a Koobideh, a shirazi salad, a yogurt dip and a bread. We got the complimentary soup, but because we were late there was only 1 left and we had to share. It tasted like Campbell’s canned vegetable broth with extra white pepper – not very nice. The shshlik were smaller than the lamb cutlets we have at BBQ meals at home, the mass of plain rice was nice but the burnt tomato an unnecessary distraction. The shirazi salad had seen better days while the yoghurt dip was fresh out of the ice box. but the bread was nice . To add insult to injury, I was charges $3 more than the advertised cost. This is at best amateurish, like a foodies version of Faulty Towers. All I can guess is that anyone who rates this place highly is family and getting their feeds for free. If you want to try it, hurry because it won’t be open in 12 months.
ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!! This is hands down the best take out I have had in a long time. not to mention the quality for money!Everything was so fresh and extremely delicious. Will definitely be eating here again..!
