Had dinner at Plato’s Republic last night. The restaurant is setup nicely and the tables are spacious and comfortable. Staff are very friendly and efficient and explain the menu well. Food was nice, very much about sharing which I personally love. The only fault, which unfortunately is a big one for me, is that the restaurant is unbelievably noisy when it’s peak dinner time. There was one point we actually couldn’t talk as nobody could hear each other speak! Perhaps some noise suppression devices would do wonders here to make the environment a little more comfortable. If you don’t mind yelling across the table then the food and service here will not disappoint.

Platos Republic is such a welcomed addition to eating out in Seaforth! After only opening a few months ago, this place has hit the local restaurant scene with a bang; not a whimper! No booking on a Wednesday night and we got the second last table in the house…. impressive! On other occasions I have walked passed to find every table in the house fully booked! Friendly service, delicious Greek cuisine and top quality produce all add to the success of this delicious eatery! Started with some marinated olives and squeaky grilled haloumi! A great way to whet the appetite! Followed with flavoursome Saganaki prawns in a tomato saltsa and melted feta, souvlaki skewers of marinated lamb backstrap and chargrilled swordfish too! Leave room for dessert as the list is quite extensive and full of all your Greek favourites! Baklava with vanilla bean ice cream hit the spot for me! There is a Sunday lunch special that looks enticing and probably a favourite with families ie. Plato’s platter for only $25 – your choice of chargrilled souvlaki chicken or pork or pork Greek sausage or calamari served w Greek salad, chips, tzatziki and pitta bread and a Greek wine, beer or a soft drink! Sounds like a winner to me! Bookings recommended!
Sunday Lunch, A birthday Celebration, table of 16, fantastic, its really hard to get everyone together, we nailed it, plenty of unrestricted parking, Which is good,Plato’s was so relaxed we felt like we were at home. Once settled in we opened some bubbles (BYO is only $5per bottle) kids meals to start , easy, then for us dips, & starters, zucchini ribbons, octopus. pork belly, spinach pie, and prawns. the best thing is that everything arrives quickly and our table was full. to follow we ordered a Sunday roast platter and some meat skewers, with a few salads and the sea perch special. great banquet. we enjoyed a long lunch. The owner sent out a complimentary dessert platter with our birthday cake (no cakeage!!) and we enjoyed a sweet finish to the meal. highly recommended. will be back !!
Very new, very good Greek restaurant! Everything we tried was amazing, but I must recommend the lamb in the bag (kleftiko) for the main, and the cabbage wrapped dolma and sausage entrees were excellent! The bread is delicious too! The wine list is overwhelmingly Greek, and hence I was at sea, but the staff were helpful and we tried some great whites in particular!Although new, I recommend booking on weekends!
Our family had a wonderful dinner at Plato’s Republic and we’re planning to head back very soon for another feed. The service was excellent (despite being a busy night) and the Greek/Med food is authentic and absolutely delicious. The kids loved it also so a big huge thumbs up from us. Their was a really awesome atmosphere and the decor makes it feel warm and intimate and transported me back to holidays in the Med. It’s a fantastic night out and the Greek wine is just devine!
