We were in Shellharbour Village and trying to choose between take away fish and chips or a pub meal…so glad we opted for the pub meal!This is the very best of gastro-pub meets seaside hotel. From the moment we walked into the meals area we were greeted by a friendly wait staff and shown to a table for two front and center with a magnificent ocean view.A great range of beers on tap and an excellent pub menu to choose from.I selected the linguine with braised pork neck, which was just wonderful. A generous, rich meaty sauce full of porky goodness with linguine that was perfectly al dente. Paired with Stone & Wood Ale that was crisp, refreshing and a perfect accompaniment.My wife ordered a chicken schnitzel with sides of sweet potato fries, a pear and goat’s cheese salad and dianne sauce. While I’m not a fan of chicken schnitzel…this was a good as a chicken schnitty gets. Moist juicy chicken, crispy breading with no hint of oiliness. And as eclectic as the sides were, they were individually terrific and also combined to be a taste sensation.Friendly service, value for money, generous servings. The Ocean Beach Hotel was unexpected but has gone into the ‘must return’ list when in the Illawarra.
