As a vegan, I was really wondering what a restaurant called Bovine could feed me. As it happens they did a beautiful job. Lovely garlic mushrooms entree and pearl cous cous with beautifully prepared roast veggies. Even their steamed kale was delicious … and that’s not easy to do. Thanks for a lovely meal and taking good care of me.
It’s an odd restraunt, the decor didn’t match the food. We had burgers, mine was good but a little bland. Also, the patty wasn’t cooked through all the way which wasn’t great.I can’t say I’d recommend it.
Off the busy Mona Vale Rd this restaurant hides, I believe it’s fairly new but decided to give it a go. To be honest can’t really fault what we had, a great selection of beers & wines. The ribs and burgers were done well as well as the entrees of haloumi & bread dips. Service was quick & attentive. Well done
The steak was perfection!Tucked away in my hometown suburb of St Ives, this restaurant offers fresh competition to nearby restaurants who have been local favourites for the last 20 years; and boy do they bring a strong challenge to the neighbourhood! The tables are covered in white thick fabric – no sheets of paper or tacky, garish red tablecloth to be seen. Traditional napkins were a nice touch, replacing the all too common, disposable paper serviettes. The lighting is bright but not too bright. Quiet conversation from other tables definitely was not noticeable whilst we enjoyed our meal. There is a nice incorporation of timber and retro-classic lighting. Maybe some nice background music would have been a small improvement. The waitstaff were knowledgeable, friendly, quick and clean. Perhaps our order could have been taken slightly quicker although the restaurant was a full house tonight. The menus were also not perfect – there was a page missing on mine, and extra pages on a few others. More professional menus to replace the clipboards would really suit the vibe of the restaurant. For starters we ordered the bruschetta, which had fresh tomato, topped with slices of shaved parmesan cheese. The bread was soft, but not soggy – just right! For mains I ordered a New York cut steak, done rare, with chips on the side (although baked potato is an option). I also got Barnaise sauce on the side. The steak was faultless; seared on the outside, and pink on the inside. So juicy! Easily better than any steak I could have cooked at home; you get what you pay for. The chips were nice and crispy, with the right amount of salt. The barnaise added that rich, buttery flavour I was looking for, with a hint of herb and tang on the way down. My partner had the barramundi with broccolini, a slice of lemon, and cauliflower pure – she assures me it was wonderful although her portion could have been bigger, or so she says.Dessert was a chocolate fondant, served with a ball of vanilla ice cream on top. The inside was molten chocolate. My partner had berry pannacotta – not to my taste so I didn’t try it but she finished it off and it presented really nicely in a big clear glass.Overall a wonderful dining experience, true to the brasserie style and offering class, sophistication, amazing cooking, and chic dining. I will visit again.
New Steak house/restaurant in St Ives, Mona Vale Rd, next to IGA supermarket. Had dinner on Sunday, it’s been open for just over a month now. Liked the white linen covered table, stylish wine and water glasses, outdoor seating and parking spaces. Garlic bread and grilled octopus for entree. Fillet and burger for main. Overall presentation was good. Steak cooked as we asked. Burger was nicely done on brioche bun, served with yummy chips on the wooden board. Service was good, attentive and friendly.
