Other than noisy, due to some patrons who had their fair share of personality enhancement induced alcohol, we had a reasonable evening, no table service you had to pay at the bar. The food was very nice, I had the healthy Lamb Quinoa salad & hubs had the rib eye, both were great the service at the table was efficient.
Hidden between the highway and the back of the station you’d think this place would struggle because no one would know it was there but it at lunch time it gets absolutely packed and it’s easy to see why. Great burgers that come out quickly, exactly what you want for a Friday work lunch.
In my opinion, Gilroy’s is a decent Irish pub in north shore, which I do not hesitate to visit from time to time. Downstairs is pretty small and uncharacteristic, but upstairs is roomy and warm. You can either sit under the gigantic moose head or on the balcony on a balmy night. Food is mainly classic pub grub but the quality is consistent. The serving is generous, chips are particularly good. St Leonard’s are not blessed with good pub or food, but Gilroys worths our while traveling all the way here occasionally. thernbdiary.com
Not many options for pub food in St Leonards so Gilroys is generally our work goto. Not the best quality though as the chicken schnitzel is thin and dry and burgers without flavour. Had the rib eye last night. It was good but 33 is bit pricey for a pub steak imo. Stick to the chips and wedges….nice and crispy.
Had the fish and chips specials,I had the ling fish and she just had battered fish and chips,I just kept tasting salt! Salt on my fish,on the coleslaw, salt on the battered fish. My partner didn’t taste as much salt as I did. We did have garlic bread also which wasn’t bad and a nice dish to share. Everyone at my table liked the chips. I like the ambience here with upstairs outdoor tables. Prices are a little more than expected and food felt like it too a while to find out. Average pub food to me
We initially only visited for a quick drink and shelter from the rain but as the rain continued we checked out the menu and were very pleasantly surprised with the prices. we have ordered Garlic Bread, Bruschetta, Rib Eye & Pan fried Salmon. The portion size was more than enough for me. Good staff, nice location, cleaned & properly seating arrangement. I will certainly return…
