Great cosy pub in a convenient location. The food is generally exceptional and made with care. The tacos are great and a generous serve, while there is always a decent special. Staff are really friendly.

It’s definitely got a nice cozy vibe, unfortunately when full it lacks seating upstairs for couple seatings. The array of tables is either 6, 4 and very little 2 seaters if you want to eat as a couple without hogging a 4 seater.I purchased the Rib Eye with a soft-drink which rounded up to nearly an eye watering $40. The meal came out with a pinch of chips (maybe 6-8 actual chips at most), a side of very bitter rocket salad with a dressing which just made it a bitter and tangy salad. The steak was possibly the greatest sin of the night. It was an on the bone ribeye which I asked for medium-rare. Covered it what can only be described as an aggressively salted crust it left a foul taste in my mouth. Drop the crust as it only punishes the meat. I opted to go without gravy/sauce with my meat because if I’m paying $35 for a steak I’d hope the taste of the steak alone would be sufficient. Boy was I wrong! It was a waterlogged cut of meat which tasted like it had been frozen and cooked while still thawing. This would also make sense with how over cooked it was, while at the same time having a raw centre.Definitely the most disappointing piece of steak I’ve eaten in my life.I think if you’re going to do pub food, you commit to hearty steak and chips and do it well. Don’t kid yourself with fancy plates and side salads. Keep it honest, not only will that save your cooks prep time, but keep the customers happy. I’m sure the place has to pay some chronic rent in the area it’s in. But don’t punish the customer for that. Put something great on the table and keep them coming back. I live a 2 minute walk away, But I think I’d rather walk 10 minutes in the other direction to Crows nest.
