PENDING MODERATIONSummer Hill Hotel has not ceased to disappoint since the kitchen changed hands. Just when we have forgotten how truly terrible the food is, we come back for an inedible reminder of why this is the lowlight of inner west dining. If there was a negative star rating for expensive, inedible food this place would have earned it!
Not a fan of the food here in terms of the choice around the area and weighing up $ value, however it’s the perfect after work drinks venue with a great interior and great outdoor courtyard beer garden situation going on. It’s an essential part of the Summer Hill tour since this ole building is somewhat of an icon in the skyline, but if you’re after a quick feed with the kids with the smell of beer tap foamy fumes with more of a warehouse atmosphere rather than delicate ambiance – this place does have its role in the dining scene… thenextrushmagazine.com
Four of us (including a 2 year old) went to the Summer Hill bistro tonight with the idea of having s quick meal. We didn’t think it would be particularly special, but we did expect to get a feed. The Tuesday night special was advertised outside the hotel and in the bistro we picked up a typical pub food menu, which included kids’ meals. When we went to order, we discovered that not only were there no kids’ meals, but the advertised special wasn’t available. As it happens, next to nothing was available. We left and went down the road to Andiamo, which for whatever its shortcomings was warm, welcoming and full. If you want pub food in Summer Hill, on a week night in any event, it seems you’re out of luck. We won’t be back.
