It seems counterintuitive to find good dumplings in a backstreet of Surry Hills, so I didn’t have high expectations, but I was pleasantly surprised. We ended up sitting in the Royal Albert Pub part, with access to some excellent cocktails on tap, and ordered some spring rolls, a steamed bun filled with deep-fried barramundi, and a whole selection of dumplings. They were all tasty and good, and it was just the right place for a quick, easy dumplings fix. andyquan.com

This place is very poor, I wanted it to be good as I live beside it but I can say for sure that I definitely won’t be back. The dumplings and spring rolls taste like they came from a vale pack in Coles – next time I’ll go to Coles!

Stumbled along this restaurant through dimmi. The reviews weren’t bad, so we decided to give it a try. First we ordered some drinks after they came around 3 times asking us what drinks we wanted. I had a lemon lime bitters and in my life never had such a bad tasting one, extremely bitter. And that’s when I realised our food wouldn’t be much better. We had pork and chives dumplings, poached chicken and salt and pepper squid. The squid came out first, it looked promising with its golden colour but was super chewy. Then the poached chicken at $16.5 came out and it was a tiny plate of overcooked clumsily chopped chicken with some sauce and greens. It seriously tasted like it had been recooked a few times and was so tough and cardboard like. They’re known for their dumplings right, those by far were some bad dumpling, 5 little luke warm and dry dumplings were a struggle to finish.Don’t bother coming here, wouldn’t recommend to my worst enemy. Not sure how they managed to survive so long.

Long time customer, first time reviewer. I am quite partial to Bamboo cause it is connected to my favourite pub, The Royal Albert. I usually get the Shanghai soup dumplings but got the Vietnamese chicken salad. It lacked a bit of zing so got extra mint. Also got the prawn spicy Spring rolls which were not spicy but super prawny. Yum!

Not sure why but I had high expectation of this place and was looking forward to a dumpling feast. After the first two couses of dumplings I couldn’t wait to get out of there. We ordered pork and chive and prawn dumplings, each came with 5 pieces. Firstly they looked really sad, lukewarm and uninviting, in comparison to those dumplings in New Shanghai or Marigold that were steamy, hot, big and solid. It didn’t improve in taste either, in fact it tasted not dissimilar to frozen ones from Asian grocery. I am sure they were made fresh but if that was the case I couldn’t taste it. I grew up with dumplings and had a few in my time so I know how good dumplings should look or taste like. Unfortunately next time I crave for dumplings you won’t find me here. thernbdiary.com

Dim Sum and dumpling were pretty average. We had the 25$ plate. It’s not made fresh , more of frozen dumpling you can get from Coles. Although the duck pancake was superb! the Vibe was great too

Terrible experience. We were very excited to try this restaurant for the dumplings and low prices… We had the dumpling banquet menu for $25 which sounded like we would get a lot of food. We only got 9 pieces of food in total and the dumplings came all on the same plate as pictured so we didn’t know which was which. Overall, food was ok but not great. Had high hopes but left very disappointed. No menu prices on ciders so also received shock at $9 ciders. Definitely will not be going there again!
