Such a fabulous menu with a unique selection of food. Had the porridge which was delicious, it was a little bland but perfect for me. The Yuzu tea pot was amazing and could have sat drinking it the whole day. Staff were very friendly, will definitely be going back for more.
Ive been to both the sister cafe and I much prefer Caf Oratnek over Caf kentaro. Caf Kentaro have similar menu to Cafe Oratnek with just a little diff on the choices of food. Service I would say theyre great. But the environment is lacking. Theres too much grease smoke indoor when the kitchen is open concept. Food is also just so so to begin with. The omurice are usually most ppl fav but the one in kentaro was made diff style and Oratnek taste better at this. Good but theres choices to make why not just decide between both
Another Japanese inspired cafe in the same neighbourhood we had lunch weeks ago, we really enjoyed the food there so we decided to try this one out as well. Service was excellent, their menu has a good range of dishes to choose from. We opted burgers, their signature Katsu sandwich & a rice dish. The two burgers were nice. They delivered what they promised in the description of the menu, however their signature Katsu sandwich was a letdown. The wow looks can be deceiving, the pork was dry & tough, it was very difficult to chew. The white bread was cold & too soft to hold the sandwich together. The mustard sauce has also made the bread soggy. Omurice has a beautiful silky omelette on top, but the miso mushroom gravy was quite salty. On the good side, they make great coffee & lattes. Matcha lamington was nice coated in lovely matcha desiccated coconut, but if they add the matcha jam inside the sponge cake will be more special.
Pretty and neat cafe in surry hills. Very similar to its sister cafe (cafe oratnek) in terms of menu and drinks. I personally loved the Omurice here compared to the other cafe, cooked in a different style but i loved it!!! We also loved the Mentaiko pasta and their signature Katsu sandwiches! Overall lovely and fast service, great place to hang out with friends
