Very disappointing. My friend had her coffee order come 4 time because they couldn’t get the order right, we were made to feel like we were in the wrong. Food was average and not as advertised on the menu.
We just randomly bumped in this place and believe me it was d best spontaneous decision we made. Such lovely homely food. The cafe has a relaxed environment and the staff took real good care of us. Wud love to come back again !!!
We stopped in for brekkie on Australia day. The annex out back is a nice space and quite airy. We were unadventurous and had basic eggs and sides. All good. Coffee good. Service attentive. Although as we approached the cashier the boss asked me have you paid yet, so I gave the obligatory no we are not doing a runner. That kind of killed the tip I am afraid. Otherwise all good, solid hipster fare in Surry Hills.
Hidden away from Crown Street, the cafe has charming and old school interior. Ordered the Lamb and Ragu stew with poached eggs and added Rodriguez sausage to it and it was simply delightful.If I was to make it myself I would add little bit of chili to the stew but I know that isn’t everyone cup of tea at breakfast.Fruit salad was basic but fresh, pity they had used sweetened yogurt they would have scored higher if they had Greek style or organic yogurts. Also ordered green tea and it came with large fresh green tea leaves of great quality and not the minced green tea either i.e. whole leaved tea.Surry hills has lot of cafes some are overrated others underrated I think this is a good find.The owner was very friendly and the place has an old school feel about it that I found welcoming. A group of 13 of us went for a pre races brunch.Staff were very friendly and helpful.The food and coffee was great and came out quickly.We can’t wait to go back for brunch soon.Highly recommend the race day menu option for groups.
The food is nice, but the service is not good. The staff / manager are responsive to feedback but doesn’t feel like they’ve addressed the problem..as it happened more than once. Too bad.. They have a beautiful courtyard
Being a local, this new cafe has been one of our regular jaunts. However today has been shocking. Two tables that were seated after us had their orders take and yet we still couldn’t get the attention of the wait staff. We finally get to order after waiting for 30mins. Then came the wait for the food. We waited and waited and waited. The two tables that came after us got their food and we still waited. The waiter came to ask us how everything was and we politely informed him that we were still waiting for our meals. The two tables that came after us finished their meal and we still waited. They paid for their meals and we still waited. Eventually after an hour we decided that we have a perfectly good kitchen at home and need not wait anymore so we left.
