Cozy bar place located at Surry Hills at just a stones throw from Central Station. Frequented by locals and tourists both this joint serves up a riveting evening of live music and delicious food coupled with awesome craft beers on tap! My go to food is the fries with chipotle sauce – just like home made fries (not deep fried).
This bar sucks. Worst service, rude staff, terrible food, horrible beer,… Have no words, just one huge disappointment. They hired a new bartender who is so mean to customers, I’m sure I’m never coming back there.
My favourite local! Friendly ambience and staff, delicious bar food and drink selections. My favourite is the burrito bowls and a cocktail from the newly updated cocktail list. Perfect for mid-week catch ups and drinks with friends or a relaxed Friday night bevvy. Don’t forget to head out the back and play some SuperMario Kart!
In the old El Bulli site, the Wanderer is quiet most of the time. It makes me wonder how they still survive and stay in business. They were selling voucher for buckets of chicken wings, that couldn’t be a good sign. We went there when it first opened, it was disappointing from the service, drink selection to atmosphere. It was simply dull, stagnant, and uncharacteristic. This part of Surry Hills close to Cleveland street definitely doesn’t have the same vibe as Crown/Bourke street, businesses need to pull all the tricks to make it work. thernbdiary.com
Nice place to go for a casual dinner and a few drinks. It has an awesome atmosphere and amazing food. I loved the sweet potato fries with the bacon and sour cream. Definitely the highlight for me. The buffalo wings were okay, nothing too amazing and a little messy to eat.
Want a good local? Want some good banter? Look no more :). There are a lot of bloody small bars in Sydney now. And some of them are great and some of them are very average. But mostly a lot of them miss the brief. Service, service, service. Small bars can’t compete with prices, they can’t compete with location and they (mostly) can’t compete with big screens and lots of funky dcor. The Wanderer has the most friendly staff I’ve come across in Sydney – it feels like an American bar. It’s got great bar food (everything is good and believe me I’ve tried the whole menu several times over, I’m there most nights), it’s completely unpretentious and it has an N64 with Mario Kart! What more do you want……just check it out. Introduce yourself, have a chat and try a craft beer from an old school frozen pimpled handled pint glass. Sit at the bar and grab some wings. Ask for some sneaky free popcorn. Chill out and enjoy. This is your new local.
