With road closures due to the Easter Show, and only limited 15-minute parking and ruthless parking inspectors on the prowl, the only option for a bite to eat in the Sydney Olympic Park area was takeaway sushi, the ultimate in fresh, fast food. Between ordering and receiving food was a grand total of seven minutes.
Really seriously terrible. On looking at the menu you can choose between 4 and 8 pieces of sushi, but we were told (in what I can only assume is a money making scheme) that only the 8 piece was available. The food was bland, the rice tasted like it had been cooked the day before and left in the fridge, and the chicken was way overcooked and chewy. Upon payment we were told that despite the bill totalling over $40, that was still not enough to cover the eftpos transaction, so we were charged 30c for the convenience of using their eftpos machine. Truly horrible. Avoid at all costs.
The owners were originally doing a takeaway sushi shop next door and expanded into a restaurant. I was expecting a little more for the restaurant, but was disappointed. The food is very average, what you would expect at any neighborhood takeaway sushi shop. Salmon & avocado salad $9 (came in quite a small portion) had a little bit of spicy mayo and the rest of the sauce was sweet chilli sauce, nothing special. Katsu tasted good. The little potato salad in the bento was placed in a tissue-paper which tore apart with the potato as we tried to eat it. The miso soup tasted like the instant version you can buy from asian groceries. We had to ask for soy-sauce, and was given a soy-sauce dish only instead.
Worst Quay Teow ever, was actually just a bowl of noodles with large amounts of curry powder. Not real great…..there are much better options around SOP to choose from.
This is our go to field whenever we are at DFO, mostly due to limited food options. Experience wise it’s better not to go for their menu deal options as in my opinion mass cooking totally ruins the taste of the food. But the other menu options which they have to cook according to order tastes quite good. The quantity of the food is alright though.
