the queue here is much better and it is located infront of Kino’s bookstore. i got a seat easily. the watermelon cake is unique but not as good as i have long imagined.
I have always wanted to try this famous Watermelon cake and no doubt you should for the experience. It was what I expected to be. It was lovely with the watermelon and the rosewater. We ordered the raspberry lychee cake as well but I didn’t think it was anything special unfortunately. I did think $9 for the slices was a tad steep, but I could be a bit biased as I am in the dessert industry myself. I wouldn’t come back for these cakes unfortunately as it doesn’t suit my taste buds but I can see why other people love it. The cake shop was positioned alongised the Kinokinuya bookstore which was a nice touch. I am a fan on multifunctional spaces.
Wife wanted to try the watermelon cake, she has heard of so much when they came to Brisbane for a market. We were having dinner with friends so she got a large portion. The cake was nice, was expecting something special, tried it once is enough.
