Dropped in for lunch after window shopping. My prawn cocktail was a deconstructed plate of snappy sweet king prawns with a fresh salad and zingy dressing, neighbouring a fair whack of rose marie sauce. 7 oysters came shucked (pre-shucked mind you) with a splash of Tetsuyas dressing. Briny and fresh although slightly shell gritty. Not amazing, but a solid option in CBD for a quick seafood hit.

Self service wine bar. Nice concept, particularly when you can get sampling size, a full glass, or in between depending on what you feel like. Execution though was not as smoothly. Many problems including, the wine getting stuck & not coming out, the card reader not recognising the money card, or worst the machine deducted the money, but not give you any wine! When you do get some wine, the selections are not bad. The best of what I tried was the St Hugo Greenache Shiraz Mataro, smooth not thick, not heavy on flavours, yet warm your throat with Spice, with a hint of pepper aftertaste.

Absolutely love the David Jones food hall but some of the food bars can be hit and miss. This visit I had steamed oysters and Peking duck noodles at the noodle bar. The oyster were great but the duck noodles were firstly lacking a lot of duck – it was there but so finely shredded you couldn’t tell, and was a little heavy on the salty sauce side. The service was excellent though. Just think I prefer the oyster bar and sushi train,

Worst wine bar experience so far. We went to sample some wines this week at David Jones wine bar in Sydney. Out of the 8 premium samples we bought, 3 of them were smelling/tasting purely like the gas from the dispensers – the bottle must have already been sitting in the dispenser for weeks without replacement.
