Good food, good times and good meat. I recently got the opportunity to review Beak and Sons Gourmet Meats. For context, Mr Weekend Food Escapes is a big meat eater and loves a good BBQ. I can be a bit picky about what meat I eat on the other hand. I pick up a series of Beak and Sons products from Woolworths including Beak & Sons King Of Wagyu Burger 270g $6.50 and the Beak and Sons God Father Sausages 500g $7.00 for dinner time. The meat is reasonably priced.
Came to get some drinks in the afternoon. The staff were nice and accommodating. And the whole interior design was delightful and elegant, which was good for dates. We were pleased with the tipple we ordered and might pay another visit to try their food later.
Crumbed sweetbreads should appear on more menus. Here, the waiter explains, they use pancreas instead of the usual thymus gland, cooked with expertise so each mouthful offers a yielding lushness protected by golden deep-fried armour. Lemon, cauliflower, smashed hazelnuts and nutty brown butter add roundness and complexity.
After hearing a lot about this New York style bar that opened up in one of my favorite buildings in Sydney – i had to visit. The place is chic and a little pretentious, but that is exactly what they are going for. The service is great (though it was quiet) and the food is even better. – Steak tar tar – served in separate elements for you to mix. It was lucky i tasted each part before mixing as one was extremely hot sauce. Leaving that out – it was one of the best. – Toastie – simple but clearly made with high quality ingredients and crisp to perfection. Fries were crispy!- Dessert – brioche with roasted pineapple and coconut cream. This had a lot of potentials but each element was just a little off. Not enough pineapple to bring freshness to a heavy dish, and the brioche was too crunchy in parts that i could bite it let alone cut it with a spoon.
