The palace offers all of your usual standard yum cha dishes located conveniently in the city CBD (so you can avoid china town). The dumplings were decent. We ordered a variety of dishes for three people, there was a misunderstanding when we ordered the sticky fried rice as a dim sum dish and the waiter thought we had ordered a dinner time serve so we got a very generous portion. We were very surprised when we got the bill and it was roughly $60 per head! No alcohol was ordered, only 2 soft drinks and a tea (and as usual I had to tell staff to deduct the 2 x non teas that werent ordered. I didnt realise that a CBD yum cha would cost CBD prices meaning it was pretty much double what I would normally pay per head.
We’ve been coming here a lot for yum cha over the last year. It’s always busy whether it’s a weekday or the weekend but we always manage to get a table. Great variety of yum cha and the food is decent. Fantastic desserts too. We always seem to be waiting around for egg tarts though! It can sometimes be hard to get the staff’s attention but this is forgivable considering how busy it gets. I find this place as good as Sky Phoenix although my friends prefer it here and better than The Eight.
Yum cha was pretty good here. Dumplings are very nice and the kai lan in particular was delicious. Nice little selection of desserts too if youre so inclined. Service was polite and efficient and the restaurant itself is spacious, clean with a nice decor and feel.
Came here for a la carte dinner. It’s a Saturday night but it was a little quiet, perfect for us to talk with friends and hear each other.Really liked the golden prawns (prawns coated in salted egg yolk and butter), very high in calorie but quite well done. Also like the ginger fried rice, it’s not bland and the rice didn’t stick together. The food came one after another in a good pace. The dessert and fruit platter are decent too.
