We had a lovely three course meal at this new restaurant on a Groupon deal and enjoyed the food, though we did find that the portions were quite small, especially the entrees which were more like appetisers. The avocado pani-poori were only 2 pieces, one mouthful per person. Salmon and melon tartar very refreshing though also quite small. The bengal goat stew was the standout dish for us, better than the butter chicken which was a bit too sweet. Dessert portions were decent and the orange cake was very delicious. In terms of normal menu prices, it would be quite expensive. Service was a little slow for a quiet weeknight. Would give this 3.5 stars but can’t do that.
We made a reservation almost a month ago for my birthday and one day before our reservation these losers message us saying they have a big booking of about 100 people or so. And they just asked us to rebook it sometime later. Its just pathetic. No professional business would do that. It was a Saturday and we couldn’t get in to any other place that day. 0 professionalism.I would give this place a -1 star if I could.
This Indian fusion restaurant was very tasty but not too filling. I gave it 3 stars mainly because the food was lovely but the portion sizes were small and therefore a bit overpriced. This restaurant is hidden away from the city in a modern, underground basement. We arrived early and were happily accommodated. When we arrived we were quite happy with the size and interior of the restaurant and were seated straight away. The interior had great seating for the smaller tables but for the tables of large numbers they were placed on fold out chairs which was not very impressive tbh. The fold out chairs and paper serviettes really ruined the classy look they were going forWe also arrived when two tables were leaving and by the time we left the restaurant both tables were still dirty and not touched. We were seated at a table for four which was still quite crowded with wine glasses, water glasses and candles. The candle was not lit either so it was really just clutter. Service wasn’t great either, Whilst staff were very nice and doing their best There were maybe 5 filled tables and it took about 15mins for them to ask if we wanted a drink. We ordered a cider and a beer, The cider that came out was a can and not the right cider i asked for. We were not offered/brought water on arrival and had to ask for it during our entree. When it came it was not chilled either.  Apart from the service the food was very nice. Looking at the food sizes i think either it was meant to be tapas style where you order about 4 mains and 2 entree dishes or they wanted you to have your own main and entree each. The servings were just way too small for the price tag. The squid($16) was like single serve salt and pepper squid but spicy(I’m not good with spice so it was a bit too hot for me) with a very small amount of pesto on it. But it was cooked and presented nicely and tasted good. The butter chicken($28) was also single serve size. It was still a bit spicy for me but just the right heat for my partner. The chicken was in very small pieces and very tender, i really liked it. The naan ($6) was very nice but a smidge plain – being a plain naan though i guess they got it on the mark 😛 The rice($6) probably should have been a bit bigger and i would have ordered two if i knew the size and the spice level. We didn’t have desert but they had a chocolate lava cake and an orange tart. In the end dinner for two cost us $75 which is not too expensive but for the amount of food you get it seemed a bit steep. I probably wouldnt head back because had we shared a dessert and included parking it would have been $125 and not worth the trouble. All the food we had was very tasty and well cooked it just all depends on your spice tolerance level
Salmon Tartar ($16) is not exactly what I have in mind for Indian cuisine. We could have been in a Japanese or Italian restaurant savouring this light and fresh seafood dish. It was not a bad start nevertheless. Similarly Squid Koliwada ($16) comes across like deep fried calamari with a mild hint of heat. It is not a bad dish but again we fail to recognise its Indian origin.
