Was craving some Japanese food and the closest place I could think of was this place. It was a pretty packed Saturday night when I came but we got seats after a 10minute wait. Ive been here a few times and the food is pretty consistently mediocre. We ordered:- nigiri set: this was pretty standard, nothing to highlight here.- takoyaki: definitely the frozen kind, once again pretty standard- agedeshi eggplant: Im still trying to find a place to replace the amazing one that used to be at Tamagetaya (theyve closed down :() this one was ok… very standard but lacked a bit of flavour in the broth- stewed fish: I love eating stewed fish! Upon ordering this one the waitress informed me it would be a 30minute wait. I took the risk and agreed to wait for this one. This was actually a good decision. The fish had great flavour and had a really rich sauce. Wasnt too salty either. The only dish worth trying here.Overall, most of the dishes here are very average. Im not sure if they pre-made some of this stuff but our first 4 dishes came out pretty quickly (and were lukewarm) so its probably why the food was so mediocre. The service was ok as well – not as pleasant as a typical Japanese restaurant but its because they were super busy. I would come back here again if I was desperate for a Japanese fix that would just get me by but this is definitely not one of my favourites. Most of the dishes are pretty overpriced for what you get as well.

Yebisu Izakaya is turning 5 in a few weeks , and that’s a solid age for a Japanese eatery, considering there have been hundreds, or even thousands, of Japanese restaurants popped up all over Sydney since they’ve opened. @jaejennnnn introduced me to this place years ago (that girl knows where to eat!) and although I don’t come here often enough to take notes of the consistency, I still dig their food very much.We weren’t super hungry so we ordered a Chirashi Bento to share. Raw fish selection included salmon, salmon belly, fish roe, kingfish and tuna, which were super fresh and melty . The vinegary rice underneath was well-cooked and well-seasoned. Sakura denbu , the fluffy sweetened salted pink fish flakes, was an interesting addition but I found it a little on the sweet side. Fresh wasabi was a great touch and we loved their miso soup!I’m glad we stayed around Town Hall this time . With @RegentPlace_Sydney, World Square and Chinatown within walking distance, we never had to walk too far for food. instagram.com

Yummy selection of foods, good place to go to after work. I really liked the chicken skin and the soft shell crab. Service was good and quick. there was a bit of a line at the start but not too long if you’re a small group.

An interesting place. Love the deco and service was friendly. However food is quite pricy in terms of the sizes theyre serving~ everything was quite salty, but thats the point of having you eat more~
