Sorry. I have little positive to say, so best left as eat somewhere else in Sydney. Was embarrassed to take my friends to Zest. Wine not in stock. Alternative arrived late. Food not to description. Surly staff. Member entitlements not recognised. Poor poor poor.
We visited Zest after purchasing a Cudo voucher, $49 for $100 of food plus a $20 bottle of wine…bargain! We made a reservation on the day but when we arrived they had no record of a resvation for us. The manager quickly got us a table though. We ordered soft drinks, water and red wine, had to ask twice to get them, after waiting for twenty minutes. The wine eventually came, chilled red wine that the waiter spilt over the table beside my husband. After looking through the menu, we asked the waiter a few questions which quickly showed that he had no idea about the menu. I asked if there was a fillet steak and told that there was only what was on the menu. My husband asked what would be closest to a fillet and was advised to get a t bone. My husband ordered oysters for an entree which he really enjoyed so I thought the experience was picking up. However, his steak, which was ordered blue, was warm on either side and completely raw aside from that. I ordered the roast chicken which tasted nice, however was in a bowl of stock with six peas floating around and a cos lettuce leaf! The waiter then returned to take the oyster plate away. By this time the ice had melted and when he lifted it the water sloshed over my legs and he laughed..I finally ordered apple and blackberry crumble which arrived scalding on the bottom and had frozen crumbs on top. It was clearly just out of the freezer and had been microwaved for a minute.when I asked the waiter, his solution was to bring me another microwaved dessert. When we requested our bill,we had to do so from three different peopleand then my husband was told to go to the bar to get the bill, on which they had overcharged us. All in all, the food was actually quite nice, apart from the dessert. The staff and their lack of attention, lacking menu knowledge and limited professionalism spoilt our evening and we will certainly not return to Zest or recommend it. oysters which he really enjoyed so I thought the evening was picking up…I shouldn’t have jumped the gun..
