Lost my appetite!. Being a local I like to support local business, so I chose the Ritzy Gritz to celebrate my birthday and Fathers Day. The staff were pleasant but that’s where it ended. The entree arrived after about half an hour which wasn’t too bad, however the mains took one and three quarter hours to arrive from when we first sat down. I was looking forward to a good refuel after my 3km plus swim just prior to arriving, but to be honest I had completely lost my appetite by the time we were served. I ordered Chicken Fajita with vegetables, and while the presentation was OK the chicken was far too dry, and the vegetables, all bar the top layer were soaking in a pool of oil. I consumed some of them then couldn’t go any further; all I could taste was oil in my mouth even four hours later. I suspect the oil used was a cheap vegetable oil, possibly cottonseed or similar. To add to the disappointment, I ordered drinks for my wife and sister which still hadn’t arrived after half an hour so we had to remind them. When I arrived home, feeling a little bilious, I emailed the business and three days later still haven’t received a reply. So the Ritzy Gritz gets 1 out of 10 from me. Report by Graeme Jones.
Nice family restaurant, good value, decent food.
This is a long way from being a good Mexican eatery. Although the servings are generous and the service reasonable it is let down by the food which is bland and tasted of chilli only. The beef in my meal also has a fair bit of gristle in and the rice served on the side had no flavour. The dips we had as an entree were ok though.
My new favorite restaurant in Kiama.Food is sooo tastey … Service was great.
Good for families. Ritzy Gritz is busy, loud and designed for convivial family eating. The fajitas are great, the burritos disappointing (literally it seemed like bolognese sauce with cheese and a big tortilla). Our real problem was the service. Our food stated arriving – after 20 mins – before any drinks. They were busy ish, but we saw 3-4 waitresses just chatting during this time – and we’d only asked for beers!!So the menu has good items and bad, and sit somewhere near the waitress station so you can flag one down when needed, cos they won’t come to you.
Great Value & Service. This is a really nice family place. We had a great meal with huge servings that were tasty and excellent value. I highly recommend you try it.
Really booring and bland food. The staff are friendly and the servings are big, but that’s all it has going for it.
