I came here on a Friday lunch for a reunion, otherwise I don’t think I would have known about this place. I first went into the pub and then realised there’s a courtyard at the back. I didn’t order the bbq and went for bangers and mash which was decent and a good portion but the bbq seems very popular. You choose your piece of meat and then cook it yourself on the barbie. The wait to use the barbecue seemed long though on a Friday lunchtime. The salad bar looked alright and the meat looked like it was decent quality. At the time, I thought it was a bit hefty but I suppose it’s probably similar to what you’d pay at other places (except you have to cook it yourself) and well, everything is a bit on the steep side at The Rocks.
Should I rate myself higher because I cooked it myself? Which is exactly what you do here. You buy your meat, take it to the barbie….wait…wait…wait then eat. If your steak goes to custard it’s no ones fault but yours.The meat is good quality. We shared a rump steak which cooked beautifully. The salads were ok. Nothing startling but the meat was lovely.
