House of Gabriel is very genteel, with rambling gardens and wisteria-covered alfresco areas overlooking the lazy river. Chef Lee has prepared individual seafood platters for us: Tasmanian oysters, Tweed prawns and crab, a Moreton Bay bug, smoked salmon, some Panko crumbed prawns and crumbed Mooloolaba whiting with chips and side salad, served with a glass of wine.
Fawlty Towers. Oh dear, new owners! so far not looking too good for Gabby fans. reception on checking out the place with the new owners was cold. seems that the delightful gardens are not to their liking. Closed Monday and Tuesday. Still no diner opening. expect service with a snarl.—–12 May, 2012—–Stackin’ it on. Chef must love plating up, as each dish looks spectacular. We have only had lunch here but loved the attention to detail, location and setting is fabulous and the owners engageing. The Fresh beetroot & goats cheese salad & sweet potato crisps looked and tasted great and Gabby’s burger hit the mark.I see they serve high tea, looking forward to giving it a go. Excited to see quality food being served up in such a delightful little village on the Tweed River
Myself and 6 friends had high tea. we have had many high teas at various places. this would be the most disappointing. $28pp. 2 tiny mini quiche, 2 tiny scroll sandwiches the size of a thimble, an assortment of tiny sweet things 4 varieties. that’s it. it would be luck to equal 1 sandwich altogether. we went away hungry. would not recommend this at all.
Amazing Food. I have just recently visited The House Of Gabriel, and can honestly say this has to be some of the most Amazing food I have tasted. I had the Slow briased pork belly with pea puree local prawns and red wine jus. Beatuiful, and was a pleasure to look at. Thank you, and I will be back with Family and Friends to show them how great this place is. Great Views as well, and a calm atmosphere. Awesome.
