This is a highlight restaurant on the border of regional NSW and QLD that shouldn’t be overlooked. We had delicious meals and fantastic service, without any of the snobbery that can come with finer dining. The view was stunning and the staff were friendly and accommodating. The view is fantastic – you can see Mount Warning and are surrounded by gardens and greenery. We had lunch and ordered the fried chicken and the beef brisket and both were balanced and moreish. The mandarin pudding made from fruit picked straight from their garden was amazing. It’s lovely to walk around the property too.

The outstanding views and untrammelled tranquility of the locale would’ve been perfect if it weren’t for this eyesore of a restaurant. The Kitchen’s food was so bad, it’s almost as though Mount Warning where it’s perched atop is a reference to urge hungry travellers to think twice before taking this pit stop to dine. With prices as high as the altitude, Mavis is better off running their gig as a highway robbery than an actual kitchen. Avoid. You’re better off scavenging for scraps or bush tucker than the stuff they plate up here #BOILEDBENNIES

Such a disappointment – Have previously had an enjoyable lunch here so decided to try again. Was seated next to a couple who were obviously good friends with owners who engaged in a long conversation almost on top of us with no respect for our space whatsoever. Entree of duck pate was lovely. Listened to the description of twice baked pork belly which we ordered as it was meant to be divine. No crackling and unrendered fat that covered 2/3 of the plate with equally undercooked roast parsnips. Other meal was roast chicken with breast meat that was inedibly dry and overcooked. On receiving feedback staff offered token apologies and then provided a bill which included a 10% surcharge simply because it was a Saturday and then additional surcharge for paying with MasterCard. Overall, a very disappointing and overpriced experience.
