About
Tucked away in Waterloo is a little slice of Italy that will have you and your tastebuds feeling like they're gallivanting around Europe. Put brunch on your list of things to do next weekend because new Sydney Italian restaurant Beccafico Bar & Trattoria, hidden off Danks Street, has added a brunch menu. Beccafico already does dinners, but the brunch menu is the newest addition where the food focusses on simple ingredients to create big flavours. Head Chef Diego Arata replicates his mother's home-cooking from Puglia, which means sourcing produce from local Italian suppliers whenever he can including fresh burrata from Marrickville and air-dried salami from Byron Bay. You can't forget the dinner menu inspired by Southern Italian recipes full of warmth and authentic flavour. Anything home made is always going to be a crowd pleaser and who could resist homemade gnocchi with prawns, broccolini and pangrattato. You can't not have dessert and Arata's doughnuts with chocolate and Cointreau sauce are a must try. But, if you're not in the mood for something big, there are plenty of options for something smaller or for sharing. A wine list of Australian and Italian favourites is there to accompany their menu, as well as a signature cocktail, the Beccafico Punch. If you're heading to Beccafico for dinner pop down early and enjoy a pre-dinner tipple on the terrace, where floor to ceiling glass doors bring the outside in. Or sit back at the bar, fire-charred hardwoods and exposed ceilings full of natural light and enjoy the relaxed vibe. By Amy Lyall - 27 Aug 2015 (theurbanlist)Details

This very weak offering in a strong, up and coming section of Waterloo was overpriced, underwhelming and now out of business. Take head young restauranteurs, you gotta bring something more than so so Italian and a wine list from Pizza Hut!
