Came here for a weekend lunch. The court yard is lively & staff friendly. I ordered the chicken parmigiana, it comes with chips & slaw. Overall the meal was quiet tasty, chips were crisp and fluffy and the chicken was yum and a big size. Wouldn’t recommend the pasta though, I would stay with the pub classics.
My friend who lives next door keeps saying that the Iron Duke is ungentrified and gets shady characters but I’ve only ever been there on Sundays and I don’t see it. It has a nice front bar, a big selection of craft beers (although a bit overpriced), and eclectic music selection, and a big family-friendly beer garden. The food is fairly good, especially the Sunday roast. Admittedly, both the pork and beef seemed a little overcooked and tough but they were good quality meats and you get a lot of meat on the plate, the pork had great crackling, the beef had a very rosemary flavour, and all the sides were great.
