Tiny portions. Four little fried buns (about the size of the 40c cream puffs at Emperor’s Garden Bakery) for about $10 or noodles in tomato soup for $15. The food’s not bad but pretty boring – crispy fried buns with bland pork and hot liquid that squirts up your nose and the aforementioned noodles in tomato soup (a few veges otherwise that’s literally all it is). I’m rating it 1 because of how ridiculous the prices are for such basic food.            P.S. check out Yang’s in Enmore – much tastier fried buns and you get 6 big buns (like, twice as big) for $12.80, which works out to maybe half the price by volume that Mr Sun charges.
In Waterloo, there’s an entire little neighbourhood springing up of Asian restaurants, and not the typical Asian restaurants in most parts of Sydney. They seem to be regional Chinese restaurants, and some others, aimed mainly at students and other nearby residents: modest and tasty food.
Not a bad place to go for dinner if you’re looking for a quick bite. We ordered the dry noodles with peanut sauce, pork buns and tomato wonton soup. Service is lacking like most asian restaurants. Portions are small so I recommend getting an extra dish or two. Food comes out fast and it’s quite tasty.
I came for their dried buns at the beginning but found out that they had amazing palm juice as well. I think their palm juice is handmade because usually the ones selling in markets have weird taste while that one doesn’t. The buns were good, there was soup inside so be careful at the first bite. However the bun skin was a bit stiff, would be better if the cooking temperature is increased.
