Great small bakery. I love supporting small business especially when the bread and pastries are so good. The croissants here really are fantastic, sourdoughs and pies are also great and make sure you try a berry tart. Love this little bakery
Stopped in to try some of the famous bread but by 1:30pm the shelves were almost bare. I did manage to score a huge buttery croissant and a white baguette, both of which were good. Looking forward to trying some of the more exotic loaves in the future.
Wonderful range of sourdough, spelt and batards all lovingly made and often still warms from the oven when I pick up my weekly treat. Also try one of the Raspberry tartlets that are abounding in fruit and rich in butter pastry. My latest love id the potato and olive oil bread with nigella seeds- perfect for that antipasto plate.
Nice bakery , shame about the service. The bread and pies are great, but the service , if you can call it that, from the baker is harried and impolite….not the best welcome to an otherwise lovely bakery. Probably should employ staff to be front of house, and leave the moodiness to the back end….
Love the Wild Cockatoo. Ray the baker and Pip deliver a suburb range of sourdough loaves, and tarts and croissants. The coffee is not too bad, also. Ray is a dedicated baker, interested in discovering new loaves and flavours, all sourdough using organic flour. A magic place.
Secret….shhh….. This bakery rocks. Yummy pies and sausage rolls. Good bread. Good everything. To be honest, I prefer it to Bourke St Bakery. It’s less ambitious, is a quiet achiever, but the quality is amazing. I’m always disappointed when they ‘run out’ of something, so go earlier in the day if you can.
HIGHLY recommend. They do some amazing sour dough, but I love their pies the most. Spicy vegetable pie is good at any time of the day.Lovely couple running the place – a great addition to Redfern
