The lady who served us was not very friendly – after waiting for awhile we had to wave to someone to come and take our order. Then had to ask a few times for some extra chopped chilli with our meal she then brought it towards the end of our meal. We then found that they had charged us $2 for a small bit of chopped chilli! Who charges for a bit of chilli?? Overall poor service and wouldn’t reccomend this place.
Average food + terrible service = bad ratingNot recommended unless u like to wait for over an hour for your main, and the place is not even busy! When asked about the main, they were very rude and non responsive. We did not enjoy the experiences from this restaurant at all – extremely disappointed.
I don’t generally go to too many different Thai restaurants ever since I found my favourite one, but this was an exception since it was my sisters birthday and she was craving Thai. Since Tamarind Thai was nowhere near where we were, we came here instead and my first impression was alright. Nice decor, and the staff were nice enough. We ordered quite a bit of food, including both green and massaman curry, satay skewers, fried rice, king prawns and a beef stir fry. Everything tastes fairly good. However my main gripe about this place are the portion sizes of each dish. The curries came in absolutely tiny bowls that probably would’ve been barely enough for one person, which meant that between six people there was hardly a mouthful for each. The fried rice was good but again not really big enough for the price. The beef stir fry managed to get it right though, they really should be all that size. We also wanted normal rice, which usually you order by the bowl, but here they bring out a bucket and ask if you want a scoop, and then charge for each scoop. I was not a fan of this system, since each scoop is dictated by how much any one person wants on their plate. Hardly fair for the people who eat slightly less or more. Overall it’s not a bad place for Thai, the flavours of the food were all pretty good, but I think I’ll stick to my preferred Thai place from now on.
Super tasty food. We only got take away but they were quick and the food was so good! Good value for money. And they do a great massaman curry!
oh how greatful i am to have such a great local thai place, super fresh and tasty. Good to go in or just get some sneaky take away! have to recommend the curries! Good atmosphere, Great staff
Its true Tommy Thai Smile have gone downhill! I had last dined in at the restaurant a year ago, and despite the portions being quite small, lighting too dim, the food wasnt too bad and staff were friendly. That hadnt been the first time eating there either, so I knew the food was above average.More recently I ordered takeaway of the tofu tod, panang curry, and a veggie pad see ew. The tofu tod starter was way too mushy which didnt make it pleasant to eat. Noodles were okay but had a strange aftertaste and I felt they were quite watery. Not in the bland type of way, but thats the sort of weird watery aftertaste it had. The curry was fine but slightly on the too sweet side. Not sure if its due to being takeaway, but I feel Tommy Thai Smile have definitely seen better days.
Best Thai food in the area. The honey prawns are a must! It’s a lovely darkly lit restaurant and the waitstaff are great. The portion sizes are great too good value for money.
