I’m a big fan of the desserts and coffee here. If you’re after something indulgent i’m sure you’ll find something very filling and satisfying here. Beware, the desserts are very over the top and sweet (but that’s the fun of it).The savoury dishes I have tried, including the pizza and fries are OK but would more stick to the desserts.

A small cafe far out in Wetherill Park, with indoor and outdoor seating, XS Espresso is a sleeping giant housing friendly staff and delicious food. XS has Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner menus ready and waiting! We couldnt go past the amazing XS Shakes! They are famous and crazy overloaded with chocolate, ice cream, cookies and so much more! The savoury food was well cooked and delivered on flavour. Highlights were the Chicken and Waffles, Pan Seared Atlantic Salmon and Nonnas Seafood Pasta. The sweet items are on another level!! We recommend the XS Stack, XS Ricotta Hotcake and Aai Bowls. The desserts were totally gorgeous, not overly sweet and very well balanced. Worth revisiting again and again, is only for their overloaded shakes!

2.5 stars XS Espresso is quite a popular brunch spot but is considerably over priced for what you get. Pictured below are the maple stack ($18), XS stack ($17) & big breakfast ($22). I ordered the XS stack and it featured 2 poached eggs, tomato, avocado, halloumi cheese and sourdough toast. It’s a pretty healthy option and filling for breakfast, but nothing special. I was actually quite disappointed by the eggs, which was probably the only thing that technically needs to be ‘cooked’ and it was almost hard boiled… I’m not super fussy so I ate it anyway. Lol. I wouldn’t go out of my way to come here to get this though. The maple stack looked absolutely stunning, but the maple syrup should have come as a side as the pancakes got really soggy towards the end. The flavour and texture of the pancakes was also too sweet and dense for me, but I only had 3-4 bites so can’t say for sure. I can only score this a 2.5 though because Kepos street have set the bar so high in terms of their execution of brunch.

Despite being set in one of those large American-style outdoor home centre shopping malls, XS Espresso manages to maintain a funky vibe. The other upside is that there is plenty of parking. Food is fresh and colourful, and yes, those freak shakes are as sweet and over-the-top as they appear on instagram.

My go to for aai bowls! Much cheaper if you get it take away… I like to get it without honey. Lines can be long on the weekend so get in early or wait for a weekday!

  • Picturesque Food

After a long awaited dining experience we decided to try XS as it was the talk of town for the past year. We ordered breakfast meals for lunch and they were delicious. Of course, while you visit XS you have to try one of their shakes. We ordered the one with a cronut and most of it seems like just a waste of food. Mostly for decoration purposes rather than consumption, because sweetness is an understatement for how sweet the overall drink is. Didnt see any customers finish any of their shakes at all. The shake itself is pretty to look at, but not the most appetizing. Customer service is basically non-existent in this cafe as well.
