Went here for my I sisters wedding. What a top location – sitting on long tables, with a fire amidst shelves of books. Divine! Outside are views of the beautiful landscape, a lake and roving hills. The staff are superb, logistics all smooth to plan and at the end of the night the room is back to original formas if a wedding never happened. A wide range of drink options, some in the drink plan, others you can order. The food was well cooked, amazing considering our large group; the gnocchi was incredible. I also tasted the vegetarian tart – nice, but the gnocchi was better. The chicken and beef dishes were tasty, well cooked and beautifully presented. The vegetarian main could have been better (same dish, just meat removed, so it was lacking a bit). The desserts were awesome; I had a caramel ice cream arrangement in a glass. Hubby had a chocolate tart – certainly very decadent. Well plated and flavour combos worked well together.

Not the same anymore. Used to be our favourite spot on the Sydney-Canberra streak.Yet the last two times we visited the kitchen was already closed. I guess they are trying to be more posh, bookings only, so make sure you call well ahead in advance and confirm.Take the announcements on their site with a grain of salt either – they are not correct.

Unfriendly Service. We had a lovely day in Berrima and thought we would cap it off with afternoon tea and scones at the Book Barn Cafe. After browsing through the wonderful store we sat down and felt as if we were putting the cafe staff out by asking for our order. We found it most unwelcoming and noted that the man behind the counter was equally abrupt to other customers. Disappointing.
