This place is great for breakfast for those who like real food, without the hipster spin on things, like every other cafe in the area. They are accommodating with kids as well.
Enjoyed a great weekend breakfast. Omelette was fresh and full of flavour, my mate enjoyed the poached eggs with smoked salmon and found it extra tasty! Service was friendly but not too ‘in your face’ like some places. We felt it was good value for money. Was happy to see they serve Vittoria coffee, one of my favourites. Can’t compare it to anywhere else in town as I am just travelling through, but I would definitely return here.
The lunch food was very overpriced, almost $20 for sandwiches with no sides. We ended up ordering cake which was nice but mostly filled with whipped cream, and with more whipped cream on the side! The inside was filthy, the floors clearly unmaintained, covered in food scraps. Despite being half full, many of the tables still had dirty plates and crumbs on them- lazy or incompetent staff.
Not worth the money.Too oily pasta and steak was overbooked. No high chair available.
Gilbert’s, a great place for poetry. Talk, read and write poetry every Friday through June to November at Gilbert’s of Mittagong, 88 Main Street, Mittagong, NSW. Australia Poetry’s new cafe poet, Rhiannon Hall, will be in the cafe from 10am – 4.30pm every Friday enjoying the fantastic food, coffee and wine the cafe has to offer. Keep an eye out for upcoming open mics and big reads. Follow Rhiannon’s residency on her blog http://rhiannonhall.blogspot.com.au/. Inquire about one-on-one workshops within the blog space.
