Lovely food otherwise not!. Lovely location & great views. Food excellent and a good variety but quite pricey. Great local wines. But who is the man serving? Most certainly in the wrong profession, cold attitude towards guests makes you feel totally unwelcome. The young lady assisting was great though. My biggest gripe about this place are the two big black dogs walking around the eating area and lounging on the only sofa in the waiting area. On arrival they were soaking wet making us wet on the legs also one of the dogs was eating the other ones fresh poo that was sitting in the middle of the lawn, disgusting. Once the dogs are kept out of the restaurant and the man has had a personality change we might actually return for the food & wine!
Bad Sunday lunch experience.. Sunday lunch has never been so disappointing. Let me start at the beginning, we were a party of 8 locals , we asked for a bottle of wine $38, not available, we then asked for an equivalent wine. We were served a good red that we assumed was of a similar value. Our meal was average, thats being kind to the chef. The little waitress was very pleasant, the proprietor ( the very same man that selected our wine) was absolutely devoid of any personality or humour. We were there to enjoy and we did order about 6 bottles of wine, however we did not expect the bill to be almost $1,000……yes he had neglected to tell us the wine HE chose for us was $60 per bottle. When challenged he just shrugged his shoulder. As a result he has lost a great deal of business, between us never returning, our recommendations to our friends, plus guests that visit our B&B cottage.
Frequent customers. As a local we have visited this restaurant many times and have to say it is one of our favourites eating venues in the Highlands. We find the situation perfect, food great and service good.
Mc Vitty — Lovely Lunch. The previous reviews are wrong!!!!!We have just had the most enjoyable lunch with exceptional service and beautiful food and wine27 Sep, 2014Beautiful Lunch at Mc Vitty. The previous review are completely wrong.27 Sep, 2014Great Lunch, Great Venue. All the previous reviews are wrong!!!!We have just had the most enjoyable lunch with the most enjoyable food and wine. The previous comments obviously have NO understanding of exceptional service and beautiful food/wine. I am happy to talk to everyone.
Unpleasant experience. What is a beautiful location with passable food, was ruined by the rudest staff (apart from the young waitress) I have ever experienced in any restaurant globally. We were made to feel unwelcome right from arrival and the tone did not improve. Every request was met with abrasiveness and arrogance. We then visited another vineyard, Joadja, and our faith in Southern Highlands hospitality was restored.
Nice venue, food, shame about the rude waiter/ propiter. Our lunch was tainted by the arrogance, rudeness, of the ‘gentleman ‘ owner or waiter who obviously has few people skills and gave the impression that he didn’t want to be there. We ordered large coffees or mugs of coffee from the pleasant waitress, only to be advised by the ‘gentleman’ that they do not serve mugs of coffee as they are a resteraunt!!Also observed his rudeness to a group of ladies who arrived for a wine tasting before he turned them away. Won’t be back.
Food and venue great, very poor attitude of waiter/proprietor. This person obviously just did not want to be there. Abrupt manner bordering on rudeness. Venues close by provide a far better atmosphere and welcome, which is disappointing because of McVitty’s quality food and location.
