Now I know why it’s so hard to get into this place. It’s much better than one star, I’d give it 4 stars for onesta. The wait staff are fantastic. Helpful friendly and very willing to do anything. The food is A1. The gnocchi, the rotolo and I suspect every other dish is made with loving care. Well worth the visit when in the southern Highlands.
The food is normal standard, they are good with meat but the seafood dishes are overcooked and lost the juices flavours. A little understaff but overall good services to compliment the rest of the evening.
I was recommended to go here by a friend who had visited recently after attending a wedding. I was not disappointed and neither was my wife.Arriving to a traditional open entrance with large feature table of produce we were asked to pick our table of choice with a friendly sprit that made us feel included. We decided to share some entrees of warm olives (fantastic quality), lightly dusted calamari, salt cod balls and the winner was a vegetarian Rotolo filled with spinach and Pumpkin and served with walnuts ( a must). For main courses the boys had gnocchi with lamb ragout and pappardelle with Duck ragout and both were well constructed and balanced and went down well. My wife had the crispy barramundi with a zucchini flower filled with a crab mousse. I had a Cannelloni of Rabbit with mushrooms and peas. It was delightful and all washed down with a local Pinot Noir 2013 from Tertini winery which was delightful. Got to come back here with friends on our next weekend away.
A gem in Bowral!. Restaurant has a great atmosphere- it helps that the staff are absolutely AMAZING!! They are so friendly and I really wish other establishments in Sydney would follow suit. Came here on a Saturday night for a dinner of two. The menu changes everyday- I was hoping to have the pate as it was on the online sample menu but oh well, it wasn’t available. We ordered the polenta to start then beef cheeks and squid ink linguine. Everything was delicious and probably one of the best Italian meals I’ve had in awhile. The squid ink was so delicate and beef cheeks pulled off easily with a fork. For dessert, if the pear tart is on the menu then please order it! So good. Will definitely be coming back when I visit Bowral. I hope Onesta Cucina will be around for decades.
Fantastic anniversary dinner. From the moment we walked in the door the service made us feel welcome. The manager was Positive, friendly and happy to share advice on the food and wine on offer. The food was delicious (scallops and pork belly were favourites) and the timing of the courses was perfect. Generous serves but still room for a couple of shared desserts. Thank you for a great evening! Highly recommended.
My boyfriend and I went here for dinner last night, it was that good we are going there for dinner again tonight! The entire meal was amazing but the banoffee pie was to die for! Highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting bowral
