Please note this restaurant is in the Rowers club. The restaurant is upstairs, past the bar and pokies. It is decorated nicely though once you walk past the strong beer smells of the bar. The outside decking overlooking the river is as the photos, very relaxing and scenic. We just missed the lunch time cut off at 2:30, but there was a small menu of finger foods and snacks. We ordered king prawns and loaded chips, to share both very nice. Service was good. Very close to the airport.
Thought we’d pop in today as we hadn’t been here for ages as there was a market stall area set up in their function room. We decided on a small skim milk cappuccino, a watermelon juice and two Island Breeze smoothies which totalled $33.00 which I thought was quite steep but had high hopes for the smoothies. There was maximum 20 customers in the whole venue as it was only 11.30am so we didn’t think we would have to wait long but we were wrong. The smoothies came out 10 mins after our order was placed and they were supposed to be made with milk, banana, mango and strawberry but all you could taste was the milk with a hint of banana, no mango or strawberry to be tasted or seen and at $10 per smoothie, and a small smoothie at that, I thought they were way overpriced for what they were, a glass of milk. See photo attached. A further wait of 7 minutes and the watermelon juice was delivered. After 25 minutes of waiting for my small cappuccino I got up to find out what was taking so long to be greeted by the waitress carrying the coffee. She apologised and said that they had run out of clean cups and that’s why I had to wait. Really? The place was open with 20 customers and you had already run out of clean cups? Nobody could hand wash and dry a cup and saucer? Anyway. the coffee was awful as it was weak, very milky and not hot at all. After taking 2 sips of it, we decided to leave and never come back here again. Super disappointed as we used come here all the time and we would also have large work functions as it’s so close to work but that won’t be the case any more. Don’t bother folks if you’re after the usual menu as it’s now very overpriced and nothing of what it used to be. Still has the same RSL club feel to it but with an expensive price tag.
Our sneaky work getaway without the pretentious vibe, Rowers overlooks the Cook River. They have a gorgeous outdoor patio like dining area open or closed depending on the weather with water in full view. The food is little more than what you’ll find on your local bowlo or RSL, with similar prices, so value is really only average. That being said the food is decent and it makes for a great spot for work colleagues sharing a few beers over lunch overlooking the glistening river. crumbs-au.com
Edited review. Previous 3. Down to a 1… As a lot has changed over the years. The place looks nicer. But the kids area has gone. The service is ok. But a shockingly ride in particular by raphael. Will never be back again. Food is overpriced too. Previous review. Very rsl bistro feel. Order at bar. Get a buzzer style. Food is avg, nothing special but ok. Views r ok if u r on the balcony. Service is avg. But if you have kids they have a kids corner (which can defo improve with an expansion of space and toys, considering the number of kids who try to cram in the corner).
