Balgownie’s best for breakfast. Staff are attentive and very polite. My hot cakes where a bit on the black side (they are cooked in a traditional way, but mine were a bit too done) and the waitress was great and understanding and replaced the hot cakes for me without fuss. My wife has the eggs benny which I managed to get a few bites in, and the hollandaise was spot on. Coffee was decent (latte art needs some work) but can’t complain. The interior is cosy and modern, very on trend and lots of timber.

This place is a labour of love for its owner. He was an amazing concierge at Diggies and is amazing here in his own space. The space has such a nice atmosphere love the decor. The food is always amazing as is the coffee. A staple for us. Gets a bit embarrassing how much we come here! Hard to get a dinner booking so book in advance kiddies!

Inconsistant. Overpriced for the size of the meals had a the Same salad twice great once and the next way too small, would have been happy if it hadn’t been so light on the salad leaves !!

We waited a very very long time for food. I ordered the hot cake, which was cold and the other meals didn’t really match the price, which was quite expensive for what you get. The coffee was good but that’s really the only plus to this place for me. The room we sat in was really really loud also, they should consider something to make it less resonant. They weren’t really that busy when we walked in but as it got busier the waitress become a lot ruder. Probably won’t come back.

Village Modern. A new concept cafe for breakky or brunch and the for dinner too on Friday and Saturday evenings. Just up the hill in Balgownie Village, adjacent across the road from the Bally Pub. Coffee blend is Delano’s (with national roaster in North Gong). It was already chock a block one winter’s Sunday mid morning. Friendly staff, modern decor and a community magnet.
