This place is a bit small hence always look packed . Just can’t help but give it a go. Pizza and steak are yummy. What really stands out is the desert. We ordered sticky date pudding and Affogato and love every single bit of them. This restaurant offers good value for money. Can’t wait to come back with more friends so that we can handle the food better.
Don’t bother. Food is not very good. Obviously the locals know this as the place was almost empty. We should have just walked out. overcooked food, too much salt. Sorry Marco. you need to lift your game.
Venetian Abode. With reminders of Venezia in its interior furnishings, there can be a certain charm at Marco’s. The place is not too big but the cooking is traditional and comforting. The menu range is not extensive but sufficient. Seafood, meats, salads, pastas, cured meats, pizzas, drinks, coffee – I was happy. I enjoyed the crowd, families, couples, twenty something’s and baby boomers. The view is onto one of Wollongong’s busy streets and water is served on intricate glass cups and tumblers. Venetian puppets greet passer-bys at the large window. We enjoyed our BYO red from Mclaren Vale and I relished the yummy sauce for my spaghetti gambari. Our coffee after the meal – a piccolo and a latte – came in generous servings, and so was the starter of a garlic flavoured pizza. Service was with a smile despite a busy Wednesday evening for staff.
Seems to have gone downhill in the past coupe of years. I thought that Marcos would have really great pasta so I ordered the spaghetti bolognaise with garlic bread and my partner ordered a meal that had veggies and steak with prawns on top. My pasta was big, flavourless and boring. The garlic bread wasn’t too bad but the bf seemed to think his meal was only ok and better last time he had it. Pizza has also had the same verdict.. It’s just ok.The decor is cute and fun but that’s probably the best part. We’ll be back someday soon maybe hoping to get a above average meal.
Don’t waste your money. This restuarant has the worst customer service! The staff hover around you waiting to collect your plates before you have finished your meal and then throw you out when they don’t have enough seating for other guests. The owner is rude, crude and just plain revolting with no concept of customer service whatsoever. There are plenty of great restuarants in The Gong that serve up great food, avoid this place at all costs.
Average food, a bit exxy prices.
Had dinner there last night with 6 others – very, very nice – go there hungry
