The lighting in this traditional restaurant is perfect, the noise level is good too, you can have a conversation without screaming, but its not too quiet either, nice background music is playing, old tasteful songs. The steak was made perfectly to my liking (medium rare), compliments to the chef I very much enjoyed the accents of the wait staff, it made a traditional restaurant in Australia an escape to Italy. The service from each of them was flawless, polite, welcoming and my favourite, attention to detail. Holding the door open when patrons leave is a very nice touch.Paper tablecloths on the tables which are perfect for kids to draw on if you bring your own pencils (not sure if they supply).

I love this neighbourhood gem. Elegant, vibarant and delicious (if you choose well). They do pasta well. The prociutto with fig and blue cheese was absolutely delicious. Good wine selection and friendly staff.

This neighbourhood Italian trattoria is a warm, inviting place with familiar menu & comforting food. Start with a delicious, creamy ball of burrata perfect with salty prosciutto & fresh tomatoes. Or the Arancini which is lightly coated with gooey cheesy rissotto centres. Pastas are generous, hearty, delicious & flavoursome. Desserts are the usual classic. The pannacotta was a little too dense but tiramisu was a great pick me up.

We went to Big Mama for dessert only and left wishing we had come for mains as well! I would have rated it higher but the tables were crammed in a wee bit too much making conversations and trying to get to the restroom a bit difficult!!! The staff also seemed a bit run off their feet and their set up for payment at the table rather than paying at the door on your way out was awkward. We ended up waiting for the bill to be brought over then waiting some more for the EFTPOS machine to be brought over. All in all I would definitely go back but maybe early in the evening to beat the madness!

This is a nice place but from my point of view the portions are too small for the price! I’ve been to many Italian restaurants and its never like that! I ordered a pumpkin tortellini and that was just ok, nothing that I would come back for! My portion was really small for Italian food! My friends had a seafood linguine and they were really happy with it though!

Sometimes the owners of the restaurant dont know what staff is doing when they are not around. Just wanted to write about our sad experience with this restaurant. Our friends referred us to try food at Big Mama restaurant and we made a booking for 8:15pm on Saturday night. We came in 25minutes early and just before us there was a couple who didn’t make any booking. The waitress gave them a vacant table straight away and told us she doesnt have a table for us. She was quite rude to us and said that we would have to wait until 8:15. We were a bit shocked since there were few tables free and the other couple was seated without any booking. We made an effort to make a booking and do the right thing. We felt like we have been rudely kicked out of the restaurant and we didn’t come back for 8:15. Just wanted to make you aware of this incident which spoiled our eavening and never gave us a chance to try this restaurant. We emailed the restaurant about this incident, but nobody even responded to us.
