Had a great impromptu date night dinner there on Saturday and can only give full marks for the service and quality of the food. Nice oysters to start and then some epic lamb cutlets for main which were fantastic especially with the bottle of Rockford Shiraz (better priced than many bottleshops in the area!)

I decided to come to Hotel Centennial on a Sunday night, just in time for the weekend special Sunday Roast I wasn’t feeling the option that night so opted for their market fish grilled with burnt butter, grapes, capers and crushed potato. I was nervous it would be too vinegary, but it was actually really nice! Perfectly cooked fish and the sauce was finger-lickin’ good. The potatoes seemed a bit dry, but it’s only a minor negative. The dessert was the real highlight though. ‘Centennial Waffles’ with Zokoko chocolate mousse, salted caramel & white chocolate chip ice cream…..hands down, amazing. I did like this place, but the prices were a real killer, and for portion sizes of the mains – just didn’t feel value for money unfortunately. The waffles saved this score for me.

@hotelcentennial WAFFLE, ROAST FIGS, VANILLA CREAM AND BUTTERSCOTCH SAUCE When Hotel Centennial started doing Brunch it caught my attention…Then I saw their waffles and it REALLY caught my attention. So I read their menu and learnt that $2 from every waffle sold is donated to charity. Then I was impressed. So I ordered the sweet waffles, classic fig and Mascarpone combo with a beautiful almost bitter butterscotch sauce. Smashed it down, before @sydneybrunchcrawler or @_ladyeatsalot_ could get a bite. Then I was satisfied

Liked it better when Kandy was there!! Long live the pink glittery sordid debauched tales and songs at Kandys in Woollahra.. Good for a beer or two.

Another example of an exceptionally well revamped Sydney institution. Very knowledgable staff, extensive wine list and varied restaurant and bar menu. I’d recommend booking in early as it books out fast.

What a beautiful room. it has always had the most lovely welcoming ambience since its first refurb, however long ago that was and in its new incarnation it still has. This is my 3rd time eating at the new incarnation and unfortunately it was pretty awful from the beginning. The menu: could it be more bland, there was nothing on there that I wouldn’t cook for myself or my family on a monday night. This might be the point, but it is not why I go out to eat and I unless I feel like eating food worse than I cook myself and I am no kitchen godess, this will be the reason we don’t return. The oysters natural arrived promptly and were devoured with enthusiasm. It then took 45 minutes for the steak and fish and chips to arrive. Of course we were starving. My glass had been empty for at least 15 minutes before I hailed over a waiter to refill it. My darling mum, who is 86 and incredibly good natured had a go, twice! much to our amusement. The steaks finally arrived, mine was a tad over done. I’ll lay out the plate for you. Nice oval plate, smallish under braised looking steak in one corner, egg shaped blob of mash in the other corner, (it was luke warm and dense, like hospital mash) and a small sprinkling of watercress undressed in the middle. Not appealing looking, not appealing tasting. Yet, there was a plus, the Bernaise sauce was good. My glass got empty again, by the time a refill was offered, it was definitely time to leave.Oh Yes, it was totally overheated. Every person who entered needed to strip down to their shirtsleeves.Sorry Centennial you are off our list until we hear other wise.
