About
Locanda Olivetti is our neighbourhood cafe serving an authentically simple Italian 'cucina povera' menu. Located in Olivetti House on William Street, we welcome you to join us for breakfast or lunch and enjoy our friendly Italian spirit and traditional cooking. WHAT DOES LOCANDA OLIVETTI MEAN? In Italian, 'locanda' refers to a local place to eat, drink and enjoy! Olivetti House is the name of the building in which we are located. WHAT IS OLIVETTI? Olivetti House is named for the Italian manufacturer of computers, tablets, smartphones, printers and other business products. Founded in 1908 by Camillo Olivetti, they started in the production of typewriters, many models of which are considered classics. WHO ARE THE OWNERS? Ours is a family-run establishment headed up by two brothers who are united in their passion and love for all things Italian! We want you to feel at home and part of the family at Locanda Olivetti through our cosy atmosphere and inviting team. WHAT KIND OF FOOD DO YOU SERVE? We serve a seasonal Italian menu based on the classic recipes of 'cucina povera'. Whilst there is no perfect translation for this term, we like to think of it as a simple, slow cooking method using a few seasonal ingredients that require simple preparations.
