+3 starting points for food served+1 lovely location and great service+1 crab lasagna to die for!+0.5 uniquely well balanced pistachio pannacotta-1 downright unappetising tuna tartare-0.5 underwhelming carpaccioNoise: quiet voices can easily carry conversation. Venue: pleasant and the heating allowed us to enjoy the surrounds despite the chill evening. Service staff were attentive and friendly. Food Recommendations: Crab Lasagne (an absolute must! mouthwatering!)Seared Scallops (golden outside, tender inside)Pistachio Pannacotta (artfully balanced flavour)Truffle fries (aromatic!)Cocktails (delish!)Dud dishes:I would avoid the tartare and carpaccio. They do not know how to handle, prepare and serve raw fish here. Other plates:Little Joes scotch fillet (strong charr, tasty, but ordering meat at manta is not taking advantage of the chefs skills)Side of mushrooms (well seasoned and juicy)Toothfish (made me laugh with joy)Price:For two, our menu price came to $400 (but we had two cocktails, a wine, and definitely over-ordered)
Manta is situated on Walsh Bay Wharf with views that compliment the food. The calamari with black garlic aioli, pickled fennel, chilli salt and topped with mche…was crisp, well seasoned and perfect on a balmy afternoon lunch. And creme brle dessert was creamy smooth, with the right amount of crunch ontop.
