Great food been going to masala for a decade now, unfortunately the customer service at the bollywood branch is off, one particular lady who is just nasty over the phone and even more miserable in person. Stick to the cannon park branch they are fine

If you like Indian food then give it a go. I have been a return visitor to Masala Bollywood over the past year. The service and atmosphere are functional rather than special but the food is more authentic than many if you choose the path less travelled..The dishes are deftly spiced, serving size is reasonable and prices not to bad when you consider a large serve of plain rice is included. I have found staff friendly and accommodating, even when ringing in late takeaway order from out of town.

My Golly! Wine,Lamb Madras and Bolly!. It’s late on a Sunday in what seems to be Townsville’s weathers retort to the heavy rain from a couple days back and a couple friends and I decide to head out and enlighten a few taste buds.I personally had not yet eaten at this venue yet but heard nothing but positive feedback about India’s own resort to Australia’s parmigiana and I am talking about Bollywood Masala’s Butter chicken, and quirky Bollywood films that play and create the ambiance that makes this place what it is.Upon first entering I was warmly welcomed by a different style in Indian dining. The funky film posters set out on a classic 8 mm film-reel collage and big screen TV that showcases Bollywood’s latest masterpeices.A quick and un-booked seating arrangement, followed by the delivery of the well presented and easily maneuverable Menu followed, allowing adequate time for me and my friends to banter and decide upon what exactly was going to tickle our tastebuds, the friendly waitress took the order and was quiet helpful with helping decide on a couple minor queries (coconut rice or regular, and garlic naan or regular). Before we knew it after a wait (that didn’t seem to long at all) that was spent watching Bollywood pop-culture music clips our meals had arrived.I had decided on the Lamb Madras, with Coconut rice and Garlic Naan. The lamb was nothing out of the ordinary, most places find it hard to find the gentle balance with Lamb between tender and borderline dry and this place was still blurred somewhere on that thin line, (The Madras is generally a coconut milk enriched with light spices) but I was finding it hard to even the taste the coconut over the spices that were added in. The rice, in some way did account for the lack of coconut and the garlic naan seemed to have pre sliced and diced jar garlic smeared over it that I again struggled to determine if it was even present on the Naan. All in all I’d say the meal wasn’t exactly bad but I would be going for the safer option of Butter Chicken next visit, If I do decide to go back, as this meal for me just didn’t seem to revelate any thoughts on delving in towards the rabbit hole of Indian cuisine just yet.On a plus the friendly and helpful staff were great, and the overall vibes were there, there just needs to be a bit more effort put into what is the supposed to be the whole emphasis of this place and that isn’t the food, it’s Bollywood!

Myself and two friends dined here tonight, from the second we walked in the restaurant put the bolly in Bollywood, with posters on the wall and india’s version of rod Stewart on the tv I was quite impressed. The prices appear to be a bit on the expensive side however the portions more than make up for it, you know what they say, a penny in England is about the smell of a fish in Thailand. The food was pretty good, served in separate bowls the curry and the rice are like a newly split couple sleeping in seperate beds. This allows you to get the mix you want without overpowering the rice with too much curry sauce. Similar to an overpowering religious door knocker. But that’s another story. The butter chicken had a nice creamy texture and the chicken tasted great. Rice was…..rice dunno how to explain that better and the garlic naan was done well. The wait staff were helpful and asked mid meal if everything was alright and if we needed anything which I found about as pleasant as a cold shower on a scorching townsvilles summers day. One big pro on the service was when I ordered a sprite (I was driving, an you don’t wanna mix drink and drive) I received a chilled glass with ice inside which was a very nice touch. The food came out within a reasonable time and I never found myself waiting for it. Finally the bill was able to be split which is always convenient when you’ve got a tight arse for a mate who was severly underdressed for the occasion but hey. Beggers can’t be choosers. All in all a good restaurant and will Definately be coming back. Proactiveprober.

Worst food I ever had. Will never go or recommend anyone. No proper closing time and bad treatment even if we walk in at 9:30 pm.

Overpriced and rude service. Would not ever eat here again as the staff are rude and the food is not worth the inflated prices. Much rather eat just down the road at Miss India.
