That Thai is that good- excellent in fact: $12 lunch and $7.50 for a mug of Singha beer from the tap (and chilled as you’d want it). Being a regular bistro diner – daily in fact -I’m always on the lookout for value places in a nice environment with excellent service and food, and That Thai gets full marks. Located in an attractive white weatherboard building with a nice balcony overlooking Racecourse Road in Ascot near the race track, one feels happy just to sit down and enjoy the street with its lovely trees. Sunday was my second visit for lunch in three days and this time I had the cashew and chicken with chilli and rice lunchtime special. There are bigger meals to be enjoyed, but for lunch the special (of which there are several)does me just fine. Service was friendly and efficient and I’ll be back, perhaps for dinner next time. Lovely food.
