Unprofessional and unfriendly wait staff who do not care the customer service at all. Will not coming back again at all. Better service, food and drinks just a door away from this place.

This cafe has under gone renovations, and was interested to check out the menu, service and new and improved decor. The verandah that was there before has now been enclosed and made into a large inside open area, which reminds me a lot of a school hall. The serving counter has moved to a different position and is quite modern with black tonings. The menu offers all day breakfast and lunch options which is not huge but has good options. There is also a display cabinet which was full with choices of cakes, muffins, toasted paninis and sandwiches. There was 3 different types of salads and fresh fruit salad in the display cabinet as well.I ordered the zucchinni and corn fritters with a poached egg off the breakfast menu and a flat white. Others had a simple toasted sandwich, a steak sandwich and a caesar salad (no pictureof the toasted sanswich or caesar salad). The zucchini and corn fritters were very flat in appearance and seemed to have been re-heated (not cooked fresh). My poached egg was very firm inside and not gooey at all. The meal was ok, tasty but disappointed with the fritters and the egg. 2.5/5. The coffee looked and tasted weak, but was acceptable 3/5. My friend who had the Steak Sandwich enjoyed her meal. The other friend had the Caesar Salad, which looked very substantial and said it tasted was amazing! With the new renovation just enclosing the verandah to just a very large open area, it lacks any ambience, but a great area for busy days and functions, which I think it is intended for. Overall 3/5. Will be back to give the Lunch menu a go!

Thursday Jan 3, 2019My wife and I, together with two grandchildren arrived at the Botanic Garden Cafe. We had exactly one and a half hours before our appointed event time at the Planetarium. After joining a queue of only 5 people, we ordered and paid for two(2) adult French Toast with grilled bacon, caramelised banana, ice cream & coffee infused maple syrup then ordered the same Childrens French Toast for our two (2) grandchildren; plus 2 Ice Coffees and 2 soft drinks. An order that could be prepared and served in 10 minutes or less. After waiting 35 minutes, I expressed my displeasure to a supervisor, who stated that our order would be delivered within 8 minutes. Fifteen minutes passed, when the two ice-coffees were served. Three minutes later our order was delivered. The French Toast was a doughy bread and not toasted. I have worked in the hospitality industry myself and have always given excellent service to customers. I was extremely disappointed at the lack of customer service by the Botanic Garden Cafe; but even more frustrated by the lack of cooking skills of the chef and the low standard of food preparation. After reading other reviews of this establishment, I can guarantee that we will never eat there again. As a side note: That evening we ate at a McDonalds Restaurant. We ordered full and varied meals on a touch-screen, paid for it and it was delivered to our table in 5 minutes. And, it was cooked to perfection. The Botanic Garden Cafe has a very long way to go before it could achieve 2 stars.
