Hubby and I tootled along to this newly-opened caf last week for a quick lunch. We were lucky enough to find a park for the car just round the corner. Service was friendly and efficient, the waitress very nice. Our order was taken quickly, and our food arrived within minutes. Very prompt indeed. I chose house made potato hash cakes, 2 chunky cakes on my plate with a poached egg (sadly a bit overdone; I like em runny) and a couple of slices of chorizo. This was very filling, and made for a tasty lunch. My iced coffee was okay; not as strong as I like though. I guess I should have asked for a double shot.Hubby had a strawberry milkshake; not quite as he had hoped. For some reason, it is jolly hard to get a good one with enough flavouring and cold enough. Sadly this fell into the not so great category. His brunch burger was tasty, with lovely tender bacon and a hash cake instead of a meat pattie. (He gave me a piece of the soft bacon; which I loved). And his egg had a nice, runny centre. He really loved that the bun was not sweet (hard to find these days), and enjoyed this burger. We shared a plate of rosemary salted chips; delicious. They looked house made with quirky shapes and a tiny bit of skin on the ends (which we both liked). Crunchy, and soft inside. As one often finds these days, there are lots of hard surfaces which makes for a very loud, somewhat uncomfortable atmosphere. Honestly Im happy to talk to my fellow diners, folks! Turn down the music please. Other than that, it is a lovely bright and colourful space with plenty of light. It is a bit Tardis-like too, as it has a fairly large interior.Thursday to Sunday it is open till late, with a bar and tapas also available. sherryspickings.blogspot.com

I came for a coffee and a chat to check out this new cafe. I ordered a Iced Latte and we both decided to share the Dukkah Crusted Eggplant and Artisan Toast. My Iced Latte came in a small glass and was disappointed as I was super thirsty. Though the coffee was bold and smooth, I really enjoyed it, just would of liked a larger glass and paid $5, 3/5.When our order came out presentation looked good, but the eggplant was cut into a large dice and looked like it had been deepfried as it was just dripping full of oil with a very slight browning on the corners.I must confess I was expecting it to be more thinly sliced and char grilled, with 3 or 4 long slices curled on top of the toast. The toast was so lightly toasted it was like warmed up bread with no crunch at all so it was soaking up juices on the eggplant and hommus and became soggy very quickly. And Pommegranite dressing? If there was on the plate it was so lightly applied it was lost. The flavour of the Dukkah and hommus was very flavourful, but the eggplant was a huge dissapointment, 2.5/5. I will say service and the staff were prompt and very helpful, 3.5/5. I really wanted to give a better review, but I was expecting more and thought it was overpriced for $18. Sorry no photos. I Don’t think I will return in a hurry.

Came on a Sunday morning for brunch and ordered the eggs Benedict with salmon and a cappuccino. The eggs Benedict was delicious, perfect temperature, perfect portion size, the bread was great, it tasted soo good. The cappuccino was a little cold but it was alright nonetheless. Had great service and the waitress came by to check on us to see if everything was going well. I see this place doing really well. 🙂
