I have been to Serranos several times and have not been disappointed, but 4 of us went there on Saturday for my Birthday and I have never had such bad Mexican in a long time. I use to think it was one of the best Mexican in Australia, and coming from Southern California that says a lot. The burritos were dry, the tortillas werent soft they were burnt and the retried Berns were dry and flavourless. All four of us were disappointed. I grew up eating Mexican food and must say the chef needs to borrow a good cook book to get it right.
Worst customer service ever. I was a loyal customer for many years. Called to order take out at 5pm which is their opening time and was told they were too busy. Drove past twenty minutes later and the restaurant was empty. No apology given at all. If you cant handle the work involved handling take out orders dont do them. The owners have had the restaurant for years, you think they would be able to sort it out by now. Will never return and I will continue to spread the word to as many as possible to never go here. Dont waste your money!
Service was really good smiles and help all around – to the point my friend wanted a little space. The food, well the poppers were awesome but who doesnt love fried jals and cheese. Taco was also good loads of chicken and cheese. Fajitas come with multitudes of size which was awesome, but were pretty bland on the flavour side, over cooked thin beef – (gosh I miss cactus jacks and the grilled steak fajita and Texas bbq sauce) if I was to go again I would order a different meat. Quacamole was average – I like more of a fresh avo flavour. Enchiladas good, there was a lot of beans, rice and corn chips on the plate so if youre a big eater that would be a plus. Enchilada beef and tortilla was good – a bit more cheese/sour cream would have been better. Location of the restaurant, next time I will request to sit inside the street was a bit rough and scary at times with the local pub guests, staff tried to make a joke of it as entertainment. Overall your average Mexican joint – good for a local.
