Best Chinese Food in Brisbane. I often go to Golden Bamboo with my friends, family and have converted my co-workers also. The servings are generous, prices are very reasonable, and the waitresses are always attentive. Jennifer, the Owner, is very charming. I recommend the Combination Chow Mein, Chilli Salt Squid, San Choi Bou, Chicken with Plum sauce, and Scallops with Ginger and Shallots. It can get pretty busy but the food is more than worth the wait. Beats any Chinese restaurant in Brisbane!!! My favourite.
Love the food, but so disappointed. I live a 16 minute drive from this restaurant with another chinese restaurant only 2 mins away. I love the food at this place so I was willing to make the drive for it. I quickly googled for the number, it said open until 11pm.Called through to make a take away order, it was 8:14pm… The girl on the line told me they couldnt make anything as the kitchen was closed. I asked how that could be as they dont close until 11pm, she said I was mistaken as they close at 9pm… It was only 8:14! Not happy!
Good sit down meal. Hadn’t been here for quite a few years, the food was really good this time. On a Monday night we were the only table in the place and I had to ask them to turn the music up as it was a bit silent. Highlights were the dry beef which was really good, also the honey prawns and a Mongolian beef were great. We really enjoyed the food. It cost about $30 a head for meals, and $20 for drinks including beer and wine. Quantities were large and we took a fair bit home. Recommended, will probably come here more often now.
We have been dining here for 6 years and have never had a problem with the food or the service. The owner, Jennifer, is very attentive and happy to deal with, and Kwong cooks the best Chilli and Salt Squid. The pricing is reasonable and the serving sizes are very filing. Take Away option ensures you get the freshest food as it is cooked to order. Not Sat in a Bain Marie stewing away. I recommend this place to anyone who wishes for the best alternative to cooking tonight.
Yum we go here often, salt & chillie prawn’s are great and lemon chicken a long time favorite.
Thank the heavens!. I have been searching for a Chinese restaurant as good as this one for years. The food is delicious and the decor fresh, warm and charming (despite the restaurants many years). I am very sensitive to MSG and always anticipate not feeling great after eating Chinese food but i did not have any reaction to this food. This is my new ‘go to’ take-away. Thank you Golden Bamboo!
Lovely. With few choices in the area for better-than-average, we were glad we gave this place a look. ‘Squid with Chilli and Salt’ was a stand-out with ‘Pork Spare Rib’ also a winner. The ‘Hundred Flower Chicken’ had a sweet kind of mayonnaise on it which got mixed reviews around our table. The place is clean and the staff friendly, we found the owner charming. The Golden Bamboo is definitely now on our rotation..
