Food is okay – sometimes. The last meal I had (small chips & 1 fish) took 40 minutes to make and it was burnt to crap. I have had aright meals here but the game has dropped lately
I ordered the atlantis pack.( 4 hoki chips and calamari) $22 Chips were nice as too the calamari but fish was size of fish fingers. Uoset and will not be back. Go to tommos otherside of car park..
I’m not sure whether or not this was purely based on the fact that today was Good Friday, however… I phoned and placed my order at 6:20pm and was told the food will be ready at 7:40pm… Okay 1 hour 20 min wait I can wear that being a public holiday. I arrive, to see about hmm… 10 other customers waiting. Proceed to the counter and pay to find that my food is currently being cooked… OKAY SO WHAT WAS BEING DONE THE LAST 1 HOUR AND 20 MINS?? I waited another 20 mins and THEN my order was ready… I’m guessing they cooked it when I arrived. Chips – averageBurger – averageCalamari – goodFish – greasy and not what I ordered (requested sea perch grilled in garlic butter)Unhappy to say the least.
Not even worth a rating of 1 – have had takeaways from them before and although havinfg to wait for quite a time, the meal was passable. However their latest effort was disgusting and ended up in the bin. Fish which was supposedly two serves looked as if it was one fillet cut in half and dripping grease. Also noticed the young assistant wearing food handling gloves also handling money would only hope those same gloves were disposed of and new ones used to handle food suggests a complete lack of supervision. Will never go back there again and what’s more will tell everyone about the experience.
Much improvement needed! Jumbo’s have since moved to their new premises in the past 6 months, with some of the old habits following. On three occasions, both my wife and I have been left sitting/waiting for our orders for almost 45 mins. Our orders normally consist of Burger/Chips/Drink deals & fish and chips. Last nights order took up to 45 minutes, with little traffic walking through the doors. And when picking up the meal, I brought it to the owner that our meal did not contain chips. Something so simple, but with no proven production can be missed along the way. This was rectified quite quickly. On many occasions we have visited other well known Fish’N’Chip stores in the Sandgate area, and given our 5 Star rating without hesitation. With small business needing every boost it can grab in today’s market, it’s important to listen to the customers complaints, concerns, and their praise to ensure improvements and adjustments are adhered too. It’s also important to make note that even though other fish fillets (barra, whiting, etc ) are listed, Hoki seems to be the fish of the day, everyday. With stocks constantly left low of other fish, Hoki is first choice with most orders we have made.I really do hope as our local Fish’N’Chips store that they take heed to this feedback and maybe take a visit to their Sandgate brothers and sisters, to view how seafood is served and delivered in a timely manner. As an advocate for small business, I really hope that you see this as constructive and NOT destructive criticism. All the best.Brendan
Took about half an hour to get our food but it was really busy so that’s understandable. The food was good maybe not worth the wait but still nice.
Disappointing chip haul after we opened our paper bags and discovered they were soggy and not salted. I have had good chips (nothing special though) in the past so I’ll chalk it up to a bad day, but I might get my fish and chips elsewhere from now on.
