We got the set menu ($55pp) which was beans and chorizo, stuffed peppers, aranchini balls and Parma ham for entree and wagyu and suckling pig for main. The entrees were nice but not amazing, they used the same sauce for a couple of them. The mains however were really great, the suckling pork with crackling was too die for and the wagyu was tender and yum! The staff were really friendly but they are all learning it seems as our waiter forgot to put in our order and we waited an hour for food (after we asked what was going on), he was very apologetic however and gave us a free glass of dessert wine afterwards. Overall food was pretty good.
I ordered a series of tapas dishes and a larger first course plate. I really enjoyed the pequillo peppers with crab and prawn meat. I thought the flavours worked well together and would have happily had more. Unfortunately I found all the other dishes I had unbalanced in terms of flavour. The pork belly was way too sweet. The scallop tapas was cooked well but the horseradish cream was really strong and i found the verde served with it was under seasoned. It also took over 30 minutes before i received my first plate of food and the restaurant was not overly busy at the time. The staff were very friendly and attentive.
My friend and I got invited for lunch last monday. Once entering the restaurant, the owner, Dexter greeted us warmly. He explained that the restaurant has a special lunch menu which comes with a complimentary beverage and its a great deal since its only for $29!!! I got grilled black angus rump whereas my friend got the charchuterie board. the grilled black angus rump was served medium rare. It also came with silverbeet sauce good. What I love about this dish is they didnt overseason it. I enjoyed it. It would be perfect if the rump was juicier since I tasted it a bit dry. Nevertheless, its such an enjoyable dish! My friend and I agreed to give it a score of 4.5/5 the charchuterie board came with 3 choices of cured meats, bread, and sauces. My friend enjoyed the sweet potato chips (I am not sure how it is called) and the bread. The bread was unique with a thin texture and crispiness. It tasted like casava chips which we had in our country. My friend suggested that dish would be more enjoyable if they gave more sauces. She rated it 3.5/5 the owner kindly let us to try some beverages, golden frapp and torrijas batido. My friend really enjoyed the torrijas batido. She loved how the cinnamon and honey added a unique flavour to the milkshake. I was surprised that they used croutons since I never had croutons in sweet dish or beverages before. For the golden frappe, the strong turmeric flavour was nicely blended and the level of sweetness was perfect.Torrijas Batido: 5/5Golden Frappe: 4.5/5Overall we enjoyed our lunch. The place is also spacious and comfortable. The lightning is good and the place is also clean. 4.5/5Thanks Dexter
Got invited to Black Fire which has only been open for 6 months. Met the owner Dexter was very friendly. Learnt that you can hire functions room above the restaurant and can get coffee discounts for people who work locally. We got the fish of the Fish of the day and Grilled black angus rump. Flavours were great although it needed a touch more seasoning. Great portion size for lunch.Coffee was great. Great way to finish off a very pleasant meal.
Invited to lunch at Black Fire we walk in at 11.50am to be greeted by Owner/Manager Dexter. This attractive open plan restaurant quickly fills up with patrons as we sip on our Cocktails. All lunches are served with a complimentary house beverage. After a short wait our nicely presented meals are served. *Berkshire Pork Belly ($20) comes with a generous serving of roast pork, a large piece of crackling, rhubarb and apple. Some of the pork is a tad dry but Phuong Tran still enjoys her meal. Rating: 4*Fresh Fish of the Day ($30) is a pan-fried fish fillet atop an Orange Salad. Gaik Kee Khoo would have liked the fish fried a bit longer. She likes the fresh fish and refreshing salad. Rating: 4*Grilled Angus Rump ($30) is a dozen slices of Rump Steak with sauted silverbeet, almonds and sultanas. The serving of silverbeet complemented the steak and I enjoyed this meal. Rating: 4.5I like this new restaurant, the decor, its convenient location and street parking is plentiful, especially on weekends. Prices at this upmarket 4 Star restaurant is reasonable and the service is friendly and helpful. Thank you Dexter for hosting an enjoyable lunch for us. Well done and good luck Black Fire Restaurant!
